Re: covid and MH
I couldn't agree more JG. 27 teams in town from out-of-state from CA to TX to PA (8 states plus the DC area) in addition to the northern MN teams and Shattuck. Anyone else concerned?

Re: High school season
Can anyone really believe, in this litigious society, that the suits in Brooklyn Center would truncate a girls season relative to a boys season? I guarantee you that is not happening

Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)
Can someone please tell me how Minnesota arrived at the magical number of 250 when NDSU is hosting a football game this weekend at the Fargodome with a ticketed crowd of 8,500 in an 18,000 seat stadium? Asking for a friend.

Re: Elite league
You lost four of your top five scorers but you have your entire team back? You were outshot 58-20 even though you had over 10 minutes of power play. Even though EP lost their best player, Grace Kuipers, a junior, outscored HF. The last I checked the number of players in Os doesn't define a program's...

Re: Elite league
That's what HF thought last season as well. The only problem was that Eden Prairie beat them 3-1 in the section semi's. Even though HF had 4 power plays in the first period they couldn't muster a goal until 40 seconds left in the game. BTW, EP then went on to lose 6-2 to Minnetonka in the section fi...

Re: Elite league
I'm willing to bet there'll be a long break in November and December for theses girls. With the MIAC announcing today that they are pushing back all winter sports until January I think the MSHSL will do something very similar when they get around to it in October.

Re: Transfers 20-21
Replying to JG2112, I think you can include Maple Grove and Minnetonka as public schools with a chance to win the AA girls title. Both return strong starting goalies and quality skaters. While the Skippers lose a ton of experience they still have one of the best D in the state and a tremendous goali...

The spots are precious. It's too bad the girls' elite league is not run anywhere close to the boys' version.

The next week will be very important with respect to the positive test rate in Minnesota. The seven day rolling average is 4%, just below the 5% threshold many say is critical to keep organizations open. Final push to wear masks and social distance.

Re: Summer Scrimnages
There's confusion because the Minnesota Department of Health (the fine academic institution that it is ) cannot even use the proper verbiage. It says that on July 1 teams may begin "Inter-team practices and scrimmages" for indoor activities. It goes on to recommend to "Consider expanding to teams be...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
The fact that hockey is on this list but not basketball is a complete insult to anyone who knows anything about the game of basketball. Basketball, at the high school level, is played with 10 players on a court measured 84" by 50'. There are no barriers whatsoever, there is constant contact and it i...

Re: MN BB wants to switch to seeded brackets
Sounds like I need to ride with you if you can get from Douglas County to the X in 2 hours. Very good points on the associations. I'm not sure why, for example, Moorhead has been so strong on the boys' side but not the girls. Duluth I kind of understand because I think there is some movement to the ...

Re: MN BB wants to switch to seeded brackets
It definitely needs to get better in Rochester. Their 3 public schools were 59, 60 and 61 in AA hockey (out of 61). Truth is there are just not that many AA girls programs in out state MN. The AA programs 2 or more hours away from the twin cities are: Alexandria, Duluth, Brainerd, Grand Rapids, Moor...

Re: MN BB wants to switch to seeded brackets
Here are your girls' hockey AA STATE participants for 2020: Farmington, Minnetonka, Burnsville, Hill-Murray, Maple Grove, Edina, Andover and Roseau. Other than Roseau, I wonder what the median distance from those schools to Xcel Arena is. Doesn't seem like much of a STATE tournament as it is current...
