Re: AA title: Edina vs EP

My wife had a great comment about the game. She said, "The players who made the big plays were the ones who had nothing to lose." Colby was running around like a dog after a squirrel. No fear. Schultz? Same thing, though in a different way. Holt...a sophomore who just ripped a shot w/o thi...

Re: AA title: Edina vs EP

I am not an Edina fan..... It was not a very good game for two periods, one team getting 7 shots (or so) will do that. The third period and overtime made up for that however and was very very good. EP not being able to get more than one goal while dominating two periods of hockey ended up being the...

Re: AA title: Edina vs EP

Hogg is the best goalie I've ever seen play for Edina. Ironic that almost all the big D1 commits were near invisible for this game (except for the wrong reasons), and that the goal scorers were second and third liners on both teams. Schultz has become one of my favorites, and have always loved Delan...

Re: Rosters

KD a nice surprise over the weekend. Could be a trend or a mirage. Fun to watch his hustle and determination which seems to inspire others and is very much needed on Edina - just to turn that 'attitude' up a notch and really get after it with some 'grit'. KD wears #23 and initials are? Opposite of ...

Re: Rosters

Yeah, JV last year. Small, and not fast, or strong, but has great skills and hockey sense. Has had to work for everything. Was never on the top youth teams. A rink rat.

I left at the end of the second period and the shots were 24-8 Edina, and that was indicative of the play. LS was packing the front of the net and blocking a lot of shots. Edina has three good lines, and good D. Strong enough to win a Championship. Walker looks great. Just wonder if they have the go...

I believe Giles picks his players carefully and there are specific reasons why each kid who ends up getting cut or transferring does so. Thinking he is to blame for these roster moves is silly. But this post seems hasty if you break it down by each player. Phillips and Copeland are higher caliber p...

Bishop was never all that great, just big. Very similar to Pugh, who used to be a foot taller than his peers and used to dominate that way. Then the other kids catch up,in size and strength. Tabor had injuries, lots of them, that affected his play. There were other issues ( not his fault)that might ...

yet there is one sophomore kid open enrolled at Edina(since grade 1, not just for hockey) who lives in Richfield that would be a top HS player for them... he's a maybe for the EHS Varsity. Kind of sad, not blaming kid or family. There are many kids would be an easy add to many HS teams, but have qui...

Westmetro Yes, BB had shoulder surgery. I heard minimum of 4 months he will be out. Shame. This is the most "can't miss" kid I've seen in Edina. No flaw to his game, has good size and great strength. Even more so than Bellows? When I was still at Edina all you would hear about was how tal...

congrats to him!! With him, Phillips, Copeland, Pugh, Scheerer, and Dornbach, the hornets are going to have a solid team yet again! There's a freshman D coming up who will be better than all of them. I suspect that Sammy will be taking the Junior route rather than the College route, for the same re...

Is being a HS hockey coach actually a good job, now?

There's no money. It used to be you'd get some respect and standing in the community, but now it seems that is getting to be the case less and less.

The kids from the Edina program have already started to scatter. One is at Shattuck, a couple of others at privates. By the time they reach Varsity age others will go, too.

Hip check has gone out of favor because it is often deemed to be an attack on the knees if the execution is just a tad off.

One great thing about the hip check is that it doesn't involve a hit on the head of either player.

He tried to skate in the pre game and he couldn't get loose. Was limping.

Edina is in love with their stickhandling. Led to turnovers.
