You are obviously right, whether you played the sport or not. My youngest son played youth hockey with 2 kids on the STA team--in a huge association and they were 2 of our best players. They didn't bat an eye at ten thousand dollar summer hockey programs for their kids, whatever it takes. I know for...

Lets Hope they move up to AA. That would have made that tournement that much better. Definitely agree. The best way to handle it is to give the private schools their own section and allow only one of them in the State Tourney on the AA side. The A tourney should be used for SMALL TOWNS, not small s...

Glad to finally hear you admit the obvious. BTW have you ever played hockey? BECAUSE most hockey player want to play against the best. The " I don't believe in a class system where those who are good in it need to move up." argument might work for other sports...but not HOCKEY. Finally? I...

I guess STA is the master of their little domain. Nobody really cares, I listened to 5 minutes of the game max.

Minnetonka's Junior Gold A would have been a better matchup than Hermantown.

Looking forward to the real championship game tonight.

I had 3 boys play hockey. 2 of the 3 played varsity and my oldest played college D1 on a full scholarship. I am firmly convinced that the most important part of becoming a great hockey player is what you do when you are not playing hockey. Soccer and football make great hockey players IMO. Don't was...

Re: Keep going Lou

Your knowledge about today's HS landscape is impressive, your historical perspective unmatched. Your passion for hockey at all levels is unrivaled. Thanks for sharing your opinions, for that is why you are there. Nearly 50 years and no sign of slowing. Bravo. Lou is a state treasure. I totally agree.

Wow does east look shaky. Not impressed by them at all I have a feeling they will impress you tonight at some point. They have some great talent. Not so far. They could make the AA bracket larger with more teams. Allow 4 private schools into the AA tourney and none into the A tourney.

I have no problem with the private schools in the State Tourney, but just put them in AA and save the A bracket for the small town teams.

Oops, didn't see this thread. No wonder I set a record for the quickest lock in board history.

JUST REMOVE THE THREAD!

Anyway, I think Hermantown in particular should step up and take a shot at winning the real championship.

New hockey rules a joke

What a lame attempt to improve the image of HS hockey. They basically did nothing and are declaring it great change. Here's a rule change. 10 game suspension for ANY check in the back automatic. No checking in the offensive zone-penalty game ejection and coach ejection. Then you would see change. Un...

Re: checking rule

Now that we're into the season and most teams have one tournament under their belts. What are your thoughts on no checking. Did USA hockey make the right decision? The only changes I see this year in PWA opposed to last year is the teams with smaller faster kids are doing better this year. We didn'...

"A" hockey used to exist for small schools to have a chance to play in a State Tournament. That is until rich parents figured out they could enroll their kids in private schools and use that as another way to get little Johnny into the Tourney. So they just keep making more private "A...
