Re: The Hermantown Thread
HAHA this is so true, that old head coach was all unhinged when STA was in single A. =D> Comparing a public school to a private school is just ridiculous. I completely agree with this. Someone tried to compare St. Cloud Cathedral to Hermantown earlier. It's night and day. The player pool that...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
I guess there are buses leaving early and fanning out throughout the area every morning to pick up only good hockey players. They looked really hard and found 34 players to try out this year. I hear they somehow have this huge metropolitan area of 150000 people to choose from. Here it is folks, thi...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Of course this "Hermantown rule" would effect others. Mahtomedi comes to mind. And how would they handle private schools such as St. Cloud Cathedral with kids coming from multiple associations. It is a complex question. If - when Hermantown moves up will the fault shift to Denfeld? St. Cl...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Here's a thought... All Section 7A teams should drop Hermantown from their regular season schedule, so they have to pick up 8 or so games throughout the year. They can keep traveling to the Cities to play those AA games they do throughout their entire youth seasons. 7A teams need to band together a...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
I truly do hope they move up because it’s in the best interest of their PLAYERS. If this wasn’t the case, I wouldn’t give 2 rips about this entire FUBAR situation. But it’s like the old saying “a little bit of knowledge can be dangerous” and that’s evidently the case with their school administrator...

Re: Brainerd vs Duluth East
Herm 6-2 over Brainard. Shots 38-24. Looks like the only team North of Hinckley that could beat Andover is HT.
Hopefully next year.
Hopefully next year.

Re: The Hermantown Thread
So punish the communities that want to play in the real tournament? Isn't that a little counter intuitive to what people are wanting here? Jeffy and Rainer's teams will still never go to state. Not to mention DE, Moorhead, and Brainerd will be about the only "Northern" teams left. I guess...

Force all non-privates into A or AA based upon enrollment. No opting up except for non-privates. Done. So punish the communities that want to play in the real tournament? Isn't that a little counter intuitive to what people are wanting here? Jeffy and Rainer's teams will still never go to state. No...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
I gotta think that most posters on this thread have nice big bruises on their foreheads from banging on the same wall for years and years. I tell my own kids and people who work for me to never worry about things outside your control. Lets break this down: For at least 5-6 years people have been sc...

Fun fact rainman/jeffy do some research on Orono. Ultra rich suburb of a real metro area with a population less than Hermantown and a school size almost double at about 1,000. Orono is on The N end if lake Minnetonka and has the highest per capital income of any town with a hockey program in Mn at a...

That is awesome! Hermantown hockey deserves a nice place to call home Hermantown is working on it. But it is a tough project for such a small town without a lot of resources. Didn't they just build a new school there? I suspect (but don't know) that getting another tax increase to build a new facil...

I was at the Saint Thomas arena today and looked up at all the class A banners in the rafters. I said to my self what a joke! How bout you win a title or two and then move on. Now we have Hermantown doing same thing and the Wolfman don’t like it. I kind of like a team to hate more then any other so...

Rainier and Jeffy neither of you know diddly squat about the Hermantown Community or Hockey program. As a matter of fact, I don’t think you have the slightest idea what the word community even means and that is pretty sad actually. Go ahead and tear me apart now  I have no interest in tearing...

It’s the Hermantown community, great schools, all sports not just Hockey, and the hockey program that attract families to the area. Hermantown Hockey is successful because of its hockey program. The Hermantown hockey program is setup to support a player to become the best player they are motivated t...

Why didn't their families move to Coleraine, or TRF, or I-falls? Because it's not a large metro area, which makes it orders of magnitude easier for families to move there and find employment. Also, the examples you gave, East and Marshall, are AA. Myself, and most people, understand that open enrol...

Gotz and Watkins arrived as Pee Wees. Take them off this year's team and Hermantown drops significantly. But not open enrollees. Moved to Duluth area for Dad's jobs and moved into Hermantown. So where should they have moved? East end of Duluth? Perhaps. West end of Duluth? Not likely. Proctor, Two ...
