Re: Early Departures 2020-2021

Good chance that both will leave their HS teams, but lots of kids tender with the NAHL and end up back in HS. I'll keep an eye on both of them, but I won't add them until we see how things shake out. § § I propose this symbol as the universal disclaimer about COVID throwing a wrench into all specula...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

I think the season will happen. What I expect is that, with preventive measures in place, Minnesota will do a good job of mitigating the spread without a 100% shutdown. There will be waves of infections here and there, but if tests, PPE, and ICU rooms are readily available by the start of the school...

Re: Role of the Minnesota State High School League

Kids are so desperate to play MSHSL hockey that they’ll rent apartments and change legal guardianships and we see this as a bad thing? I hate that kids break the spirit of the rule if not the letter of it, but if the alternative is making transfers so restrictive that we start driving kids to AAA an...

If they want to find him at home, they’ll visit Mounds View. He was an Irondale Youth Hockey player.

Re: Fun With the Transitive Property!

Not sure what the rules are, like if a team has to win the season series or if the rankings have to be sequential or if they all have to be in-state, but I found an extremely convoluted way to get the one-win Austin team to the top! Hill-Murray lost to... White Bear Lake who lost to... Irondale who ...

Re: The 2019-2020 Freshman Scoring Thread

Watched the stream of EGF-SCC Jaksen Panzer (18 goals) he looked like he was the best player on EGF. He was definitely not outplayed by the SCC top line. He is going to be fun to watch! I was at the game. He was the best player, not only on EGF, but on the ice. Seen him play several times this year...

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams

There is no doubt that is true. Those 10 sets of Parents want to see their kid's team win first and foremost. They care about what is best for their kid. They are generally not thinking about what is best for the Association or High School Program. That is why Parent's don't make those types of dec...

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams

The association and schools loss is the ice time that is given to these players at the expense of others watching from the bench that will eventually end up in your high school system. So are peewee and bantam state championships meaningless? "Sorry folks, I know that we probably would have wo...

Re: The 2019-2020 Freshman Scoring Thread

For class A, the ones I think demand to be noticed are Shaugabay, Bradley Walker from Orono, Max Krebsback from Mound Westonka, Jaksen Panzer from EGF, defenseman Caden Morgan from Breck, and 8th grader Wyatt Farrell from La Crescent who is leading his team in goals and points.

Re: The 2019-2020 Freshman Scoring Thread

I am not much of a fan of having Freshman on varsity (especially in AA where many of those teams would have the depth to avoid it but there are always a few who belong) Now that the season is drawing to an end which of these guys has proven they belong with the big boys in AA? From what I saw this ...

I know you you know this Exiled but just commenting for discussions sake.....The Association/High School tie issue that you describe also has a very different dynamic depending on the specifics of your community as well......metro/outstate, how many private options, 2 or more high schools within yo...

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams

I personally don't believe that associations should be treated as the farm teams for the high schools. Therefore, I disagree with Stillwater's proposal in principle, not just in practice. Our association feeds two public high schools and a number of private schools. Several of our association's most...

Re: AA scoring leaders through Feb 1

If the scoring race has little impact on the Mr. Hockey race why are their no defensemen on your list. I would put Wyatt Kaiser at 1c. and end the list there. It would not be an injustice if any of those 3 won it. Bushy is a defenseman. I don't have a problem with Kaiser, Schweitzer, or Richels bei...

Re: AA scoring leaders through Feb 1

The scoring race is one thing. The Mr. Hockey race is a completely different thing. The scoring race will have little impact on the Mr. Hockey race, which is incredibly close, IMHO. Here's my current thought on that... 1a. Gleason 1b. Biondi They are both incredibly important to their respective tea...

On a weekday evening there was an information meeting regarding the possibility of a girls hockey team. Myself just having moved to Rochester with 2 f...

Re: What new Co-Op would be instantly relevant?

This is actually an interesting question based on the implication that co-ops are intended to create competitiveness rather than maintain viability. I imagine there's a philosophical split there. My school district has two high schools that have both struggled with numbers in the recent past. The di...

Irondale 2 white bear 0 under 10 in the 3rd 😳 Irondale beating White Bear Lake 4-1 is a total shocker. Great job, guys. Something to remember forever. Biggest program win since they took down Blaine a couple years ago. Roster isn't deep enough to challenge consistently, but with Jerry Hayes at the ...
