Re: Women coaches
I agree with you on many points, but not the shame-centered approach. I have yet to see a male coach use that method with a women or girls team.
FWIW, Hibbing, D. Marshall, Hermantown, and Cloquet are all section 7A teams coached by women.

Re: Class A QF: #5 Delano vs. #4 Greenway
Frank is an absolute gem. Just an idea. . .focus on your D1 team, or satisfy your man crush and go coach Greenway. What purpose does it serve a D1 coach to go on a rambling dissertation about a below average HS hockey team? Hey Goldy, #1 it's his alma mater. #2 if you don't like A hockey, don't go ...

Re: Section 7A seeding
Little bit off topic, but why would you not hold the Section 7A finals at the Memorial Building in Hibbing. I was back over there a few weekends ago watching a co-workers kid in a Bantam B tournament and the arena looks as good as ever. I was talking to one of the rink attendants and he said they j...

Re: Dismal 2019 for Range Hockey
According to MN Hockey Hub, four of the players puckranger lists have been in all 17 games and two others have been in 16 games. Injuries happen. Except for Hermantown, no team in this section is very deep. Every team has kids playing hurt right now. I wouldn't trust the Hub's game play count. I kn...

Re: Hockey Day in MN
We're heading over from Hibbing tomorrow morning. As long as the wind isn't blowing like it did in Rapids a handful of years ago, this should be an awesome day!

Hibbing won the scrimmage 4-2. Cloquet was short #5, but Hibbing was short their starting goalie and a top two D.

Re: 7A
What's to blog about? The season started a week ago and games haven't been played. If you want to see some 7A action, Cloquet is in Hibbing this weekend for a scrimmagefest. Hibbing and Cloquet don't play each other however. Hibbing played in GR's scrimmagefest last week, and tied Lakeville North 1-...

Re: New Arena in Proctor opens next week
It's worth noting how cyclical many of the Iron Range schools can be, too. Without Hermantown, we would've been talking about Virginia as a serious State Tournament contender this past season, and they've had a few other surges in talent over the past 15 years. Eveleth, while probably well short of...

I see no problem with it. The Elite league will still draw the best, and all the other leagues offer ample opportunity for kids to play if they care to.

Rosters are set. 7 teams were formed with 5 out of state teams filling out the league for a total of 12. The game schedules should be released today.

My co-worker gave me a tour of the new Arena in Proctor on Thursday night. If you're anywhere in the area, you are going to want to see a game in there this year. They really outdid themselves, that place is an absolute gem! My kid has a game there in early November. I can't wait to see it. Proctor...
