Though Shattuck is not playing in the Elite League Playoffs, to the best of my knowledge, they will be playing in the Bauer NIT next weekend. As to the reasons why they choose to do this, I have nothing but speculation. My best theory is that they use the weekend to recuperate, not travel, rest, and...

USA Junior Select Team

This team was selected to compete in the World Junior A Challenge. The team includes 6 Minnesotans, all of which I have bolded below. Individuals on this team range between 93, 94, and 95 birth years. Goalies: Michael Bitzer, Lincoln Stars, Moorhead, MN (Moorhead Spuds) Eamon McAdam, Waterloo Blackh...

Had the pleasure of attending today's game of Shattuck vs Southwest (Starkey). Was one of the fastest, most intense games I've seen so far. Shattuck was dominant - looked like they were about to burst through in the second period. But Southwest held them off and scored two late goals to tie, even wh...

I've broken this into regions, just for fun. This indicates that the Midwest and Northeast, which account for roughly 40.3% of the nation's population, are responsible for 81.5% of division 1 hockey players. Midwest Illinois - 6.46% Indiana - 0.46% Iowa - 0.46% Kansas 0.00% Ohio - 2.86% Michigan - 1...

Apparently, EP's stellar goalie- LaCombe has transferred. EP has another up and coming goalie (Kielly) but it is a shame since LaCombe made a huge impact on the Eagles season last year. He made all the difference in the teams record; playing a majority of the games and against a majority of the tou...

Cammarata should be higher. Wasn't he the one of the first, if not the first 16-year olds to put up 60+ points in the USHL? In his rookie season no less. He has vision like few others. Although they do have a lot going against them, small players have proven themselves very successful at times in th...

I found the analogy, "Moving from an NAHL game to an Elite League game is like moving from a rock concert to a funeral", to be interesting, at the very least. I certainly don't feel that the Elite League is that far behind the NAHL, at least enough to warrant the use of such a dichotomy. T...

@Almost Don't mince my words. Not once did I explicitly say, or imply, that only drafted players have the opportunity to play hockey. You did however, do an excellent job of twisting my quote out of context. But answer me this. If you intend to play in the NHL, if that's the pinnacle of a hockey car...

In response to the most recent question, winning State or getting picked in the NHL draft, any player in their right mind would choose the NHL draft. Frankly, I believe everyone would. Anyone who tries to bring up any garbage about the team camaraderie and experience of winning State trumping person...

Kids should do what they and their families have decided is best, and not be begrudged by anyone one way or the other. People- fans of the game, HS followers - continuously debate this issue like it impacts their livelihood, state of being, or otherwise quality of life. News flash: It doesn't. Unles...

Elite League Broadcasts

With games starting up this weekend, I'm curious if there are any plans by the Hub, or any other media organization, to do any sort of video or audio live broadcasting. It would be an excellent way to quench my thirst for good hockey until the regular season, especially given the impending NHL locko...

These jerseys distract from what the Elite League is supposed to be all about, exposing kids and their talents to higher level coaches, scouts, etc. I don't envy any scout or coach trying to keep track of players in these things. All players should be wearing solid color jerseys with nothing but a n...

The major downside is that the butterfly motion is an astoundingly unnatural movement for the hips - labrums, tendons, joints, flexers. With a proliferation of the butterfly style, we've seen an increase in the amount of hip injuries experienced by goaltenders.

The modern butterfly style of goaltending was popularized by Patrick Roy in the mid 1980's along with the then-Montreal and current-Toronto goalie coach, Francois Allaire. The nature of the butterfly style has emerged due to advancements in protective equipment that make blocking and trapping the pu...
