Re: Section 4AA

My guess is that as long as Gentry is following the state standards, they're fine. When I say standards, I'm thinking of the number of instructional days, subjects covered, hours in the day, etc. So if 2 days/week of phys ed is a requirement for grades 9 & 10, who's to say it can't be hockey? And ph...

Re: Tonka 18-0 over STMA

In the 80's there were some very lopsided scores between Hill and some of their City Conference opponents. The worst were against Central. It was often 18 to 20 goals for Hill, and Central would either get shut out, or score once or twice. At some point, instead of playing each opponent twice, Hill...

Re: AA Rankings for 1/21/24

Thanks Ryan. Good to know. I don’t think Hill is currently a top 10 team - maybe borderline top 10-ish, which is more or less where they’re currently ranked. I’d probably put them a spot or maybe 2 higher, but that’s it. I do think they’re resume matches up with teams like EP and STA, and those tea...

Re: A Rankings for 1/14/24

Sorry, I don't think I can make it any more clear. What I said about Hastings applies to Tartan, or any A/AA match up. Don't get hung up on Hastings.

Now you have a great rest of your week.

Re: A Rankings for 1/14/24

" So is any win over any AA opponent a feather in the cap of an A team? " I dunno, it seems pretty clear to me. And the corollary is pretty obvious as well. It's fine to mention the Mathomedii win over Hastings in the vane of "these are the Zyphs results from the past wee'. But it was specifically p...

Re: Section 4AA

What app is it that I need to see a game in person? Vanco Events? Last time I went to a game we paid at the door. I always click on the link on Twitter for Hill-Murray Boys Hockey. I'm so used to the online ticketing that about half the time I remember to buy it at home. Otherwise I have to stand i...

Re: Section 4AA

(I think) I've been clear that any of those four teams can win the section. I don't think seeding matters much if at all, except for bulletin board material (They don't respect us!). Whoever wins it will need to have two good wins. Three of those teams would be locks to lose in the first round. The ...

Re: A Rankings for 1/14/24

I'm genuinely curious about something. In the write up on Mahtomedi, the win over Hastings is highlighted, and it is specifically mentioned that Hastings is AA. Now, Hastings has not been any sort of a factor in AA this year, and really for some time. I think a couple/three years ago they made a lit...

Re: Section 4AA

I largely agree with Blue. It's not a bad year to have a sub-par Hill squad, given the rare situation of two very top tier teams. I don't recall a year where we've had two teams that are far and away the best, and then a fairly significant drop to #3 to #12 who are really pretty even on the whole. I...

Re: Section 4AA

It's not just the loss to 2 Rivers, it came on the heels running time disaster at Pagel. When was the last time Hill was put on RT? Was the 10-1 loss to Roseville at the holiday tournament in in 02-03? (As always, I'm too lazy to dig too far into it.) Hill is not the only team to be put on RT by Ton...

Re: Section 4AA

I was surprised STA was kept to 2 goals. It looks like a dangerous offense.

Deux Rivières is enjoying the catbird seat of the Tradition Rich Metro East. The very prescient schedulers of the TRME had the foresight to make the STA/ Deux Rivieres contest the last game of the season.

Re: Section 4AA

The bears play a Suburban East-heavy schedule. They play every other team in their conference (8 of them) twice - which is 16 of 25 possible games or 2/3 of their available schedule. In many years, that doesn't necessarily make for great competition. Hill used to do the same, and it was a tedious s...

Re: Section 4AA

At this point, I'd say seeding doesn't matter. The top 4 will each need to play two good games to win the section. Baring fairly unlikely significant changes in the coming weeks, it's hard to see how anyone could say they got shafted on seedings. I’ll put my money on Hill Murray. Home ice advantage...

Re: AA Rankings for 1/7/23

I can't recall a worse week of regular season hockey for Hill. Last year's 1-0 win over Deux Rivières was possibly the most embarrassing win Hill has ever had, and it's hard to believe it got worse this season. Ugh.
