Re: AA Championship: Hill Murray v Eden Prairie
Great post. Thank you. Bill Lechner can now go up on the Mount Rushmore of MN HS Hockey coaches. Mahtomedi is welcome to join the big Parade on Monday down Century Ave. It's a great day in St Paul's Metro East. I am that wonk. STA and HM have played 24 times in the last 10 years. HM is 12-10-2 in th...

Sadly, this post turned out to be Incorrect on all 4 counts. (Mahtomedi would have been tough to beat in 4A.)mnpuckster wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 2:33 pm Living in the past. This hill team has no depth. No trip to the X this year. They would have a better shot at 4a title.

Re: Hill-Murray vs St. Thomas Academy - Semi-Final Friday
How have these teams faired in bantams and peewees over the last few years? This might've been considered a clever chirp a decade ago. 46 years ago. We are now 46 years into private schools in the MSHSL. It's a done deal in all sports and across the Country. Also the quaint notion that public schoo...

HM's Strobel and Pierre looked really good on that slightly bigger and faster ice surface at the X.

Nick Pierre is a special player. I'd love to see him back at HM next year, but he is clearly ready to play at a higher level.

Re: Section 4AA thread
There was talk the Sager is done coaching at the section finals last Friday. Anybody have the scoop? There is always talk about Sager being done after this familiar scene plays out. He's 2-7 vs Hill-Murray in Section Finals. https://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii2/ndmndad/20200302_173843%20640x360_...

Re: Section 4AA thread
The Metro East went 8-4-1 against the Suburban East this season. It's clearly a far better hockey conference. HM should get a bye into the final and the 7 SE schools plus Minnehaha should have a play-in tournament. HM's sweep of the SEC in 4AA makes it 11-4-1. Big congratulations to the Metro East ...

Boom! Well done Zach! Had heard St T Univ had done some very very prelim exploratory work for possible new D1 size facility on/near campus , The U of St Thomas will eventually be the solution. They will know soon if they get approval for jump to D1. If so they will have to build an arena of at leas...

Re: Section 4AA thread
Speaking of the Metro East Conference... Can some one explain to me how the points system works in this conference (and others, for that matter)? HM wins the Metro East with 25 pts and a 7-1-1 conference record. Mahtomedi is 2nd with 20 pts and a 7-3-0 record. And Hastings is 3rd with 19 pts and an...

HM was 10-4 in Section finals at the Coliseum and is 3-2 in Section finals at Aldrich. It appears that Aldrich Arena doesn't really provide an advantage. Nobody uses Ridder for high school games. Does the U even make it available?

Re: Section 4AA thread
I find it interesting that Hill gets to play the entire section tourney on their home ice .Doesn't seem quite fair does it? Of course the tournament director is Jeff Whistler, a Hill guy Aldrich has a capacity of 3000. The Coliseum closed in 2014. 4AA would have to go 20+ miles away to the other si...

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams
This paranoia about kids that might or might not go to Hill-Murray goes way back in Stillwater. Housley, Sagissor, etc. kept it going and the association tries to punish those kids and families. It hasn't worked. It is particularly ridiculous in modern youth hockey with all of the options out there ...

The jury is still out. WBL vs. CDH and HM vs. Moorhead will help determine #1. The probable semifinal matchups have become much more interesting with the emergence of Stillwater and East Ridge. Both are Feb 26 at Aldrich.

75 years. 0-19. The curse of Moose Goheen lives on. Maybe they can hang another Consolation banner at Vadnais.
At least they have that WB Mariner quarterfinal win in 1982.
