I don't know if it will matter. I attend quite a few hs games around the state and student attendance is becoming less and less every year. I just don't think the future generations will support it as has been in the past. I think of last years section 7AA final in Duluth last year. They didn't eve...

Sorry pb, it has been a while.... I was referring to some info that was shared by an agent familiar with TV's situation at the U. Who knows how accurate it is, but what I was told the move was initiated by the Blues organization. My point is whether it's HS or University if you are one of a very fe...

Re: LPH Series on the State of HS Hockey

That, and the guaranteed resulting whine from the other sports of "Hey, if they (hockey) get a longer season, we should get one too !" The argument is that MSHSL has incentives to treat boys hockey differently because it's the cash cow that is being milked. Heard that University of Texas ...

Re: LPH Series on the State of HS Hockey

I was too busy reading to start this thread before karl...they must teach speedreading Up North. Lots of ideas bandied about in the article that queried coaches... Lengthen periods to 20 minutes : Lots of love for this idea, as it would increase playing time without lengthening the season or...

All I'm saying is you can't just assume that everything will remain constant. The world changes and you better be prepared to defend your turf. I thought this comment summed up my feelings precisely. Nothing will change the current direction unless everybody gets on board. • The kids aren’t leaving...

Mainly the defensemen. They were not able to make that first pass quick enough. They coughed up the puck more times then I could count against the better teams. A good forechecking team like East would have them on their heels most of the time. Forwards didn't always handle the first pass well eith...

Very tough schedule. The only games I see that they will overwhelm an opponent are the games against IRC teams and maybe St. Francis. If their defensive zone play is as bad as last year can't see their record much better then 15-10. What was their problem in this area; defensemen, goalie, forwards ...

Unless some "new" faces show up at Warroad very quickly. Any good job postings at Marvin? If not, they'll make one, for the right player's parent, er, I mean, employee. In all seriousness, I was surprised Bethune left. Good player, but I just don't see him in the NHL. With Nelson, i.e, ne...

It's funny how one player is/was able to change the thoughts on the section... With Bethune and Roth, I would have thought it was Warroad's to lose, especially with Sections in Warroad. EGF lost its top 4 defensemen (although most of the scoring up front is back), and would have struggled against R...

With Bethune leaving Warroad, 8a will be a cakewalk for egf this year, even if Roth stays at Warroad. TRF will be very, very weak, and no one else has a chance. Unless some "new" faces show up at Warroad very quickly. Again, lol. It's funny how one player is/was able to change the thought...

It's Malmquist's to lose, in my book.

Re: Jared Bethune

My comment wasn't from the loyalty perspective. I'm actually in the minority that thinks these kids don't owe anything to the schools that they play for. I'm questioning the overall logic of the decision. The way I understand it is he is wanting to get the NHL as soon as possible (though my my sour...

Re: Jared Bethune

I've heard this was another case of the family bringing in an advisor for advice. If only anyone from Warroad had gotten to the pros in the last decade by staying in school it might have been able to convince them to stay... Well, as you know, he's not from Warroad, unlike Nelson, i.e., so how much...

Re: Jared Bethune

My source tells me that Jared Bethune has left for Major Jr's so no longer available for Lincoln or the Bulldogs Interesting. I think Prince George may have his rights. I'll keep an eye on that. I know he thinks of himself as Canadian, so this wouldn't be inconceivable. Also, if he wants to play fo...

Re: Boo Hoo

Am I the only one that sees the irony in this poorly written article? Greg and his brother spend their spare time running around to Disrict 8 bantam games telling kids that their local HS is no good for the players long term development. Have to go to STA to be successful. When Jr teams tell his at...

I've said it before, and this is just a glaring example of it, the UMHSEL isn't really helping anyone, nor is it helping keep kids around to maintain, much less raise the level of play around here during the winter. I know that's not their intent, but it should be. No matter how good the talent is,...

This could be a great list for "The Exiled One" to start... Maybe go back 5-10 years... Who left? Who didn't? Where they are now? Those are just a few... I do believe in staying... And I do understand there are a few exceptions for a certain few kids... I just think we would be surprised ...

Go, Stay, it really doesn't matter, if you can play they will find you. If you can't they'll find that out too. I'm more and more coming to the opinion that this old sage is outdated. It was fine in the days of lesser US/worldwide numbers playing hockey, but in these days of every state in the US s...

Probably not as much as the one in Warroad.

Ironic, that someone recruited one of their players away.

The whole premise around the non-stop preaching on this topic is in my opinion flawed. HS coaches and the MN hockey royalty all talk about how it's best to stay in the nurturing environment of the home until they graduate. There is one problem with that however. It only applies to a percentage of b...
