Why the rub with WI Fire and FL? Wasn't FL originally in a different pool? As noted above District 2 does not allow teams to play independent AAA teams during the association season - includes games, scrimmages and tournaments. The rule was developed to disable the WI Fire from playing nearby MN te...

Re: Take it out.
Having seen a number of kids deal with head injuries this is absolutely the right call. First thing first, on my kids' teams there is a size difference from top to bottom measured in feet, not inches. I'm guessing the biggest kids weigh 50 pounds more than the smaller ones. Guess who gets hurt? By ...

havent seen them play yet this year, but they will get in a groove, season is still young 4 starters (2 forwards, defensemen, and goalie) are gone. No one has stepped up to fill that void. Last year's goalie, Wohlers kept them in the big time games (Hill and STT). Team is rather small except for #1...

Re: Class A Rankings 12-12-10
15. Mahtomedi (1-4) The Zephyrs have only 1 win this far and it seems as though they will be adding no more than 1 more this week, but Mahtomedi has to have one of the toughest schedules against Class A opponents through 5 games. This week: Thurs vs Hill Murray, Sat @ North St Paul While I am sure ...

Ask USA Hockey. Coaching clinics are a very good idea if done right. I have seen coaches (played D1) take spills on the ice. Locker rooms get trashed, this one may have been lead by rink managers. The use of cell phone photos ... well that one is rather easily trackable if abused ... never seen any ...

I am no lawyer and I do not work in the insurance industry. That said, this is all about money. Liabilities and lawsuits? USA Hockey and MN Hockey continue to demand registration and fees of all players, coaches ... and in return provide type of uniform umbrella insurance policy. They also become re...

Don't feel bad for posting this. Freak accident, sure ... but this is the type of scenarios and injuries that happened more often to those who played against Marshall and other D1 prospects in HS ... like I said earlier (AND NOT pointing to Marshall in paticular). Each step up is sooo much faster. G...

No idea if he was a dangling, but one may assume since it is reported as a center ice check on a defensemen. Not a direct comment on Marshall, but many, many a damn good HS player has found that D1 was about all they could muster. It is amazing to see kids thats are unstoppable in HS fall into 3rd a...

Reading the article it appears he may have been carrying the puck through the neutral zone. Marshall's left arm got jammed into the boards during the hit at center ice I think Mr Marshall will quickly realize that carries that worked even in the State A tournament will be a little tougher when skati...

District 2 has been anti-winter AAA especially Fire since this WI based club recruited heavily in D2. They do restrict tournaments from accepting them and from teams playing against them. An answer to black sheep's question. What if an AAA team started up on the range and cherry picked the top two s...

I was there and it is good hockey. 90% of the kids deserve to be there. I agree. While the kids are definitely talented it is not universally the best talent. Also some kids because of the affilation with certain associations get asked when others don't. More non-parent coaches would certainly help...

Saying teams are choosing to play B JUST so they can get to state is purely speculation on your part and I suggest try giving some of these associations a little credit on making hard decisions surrounding difficult circumstances. These decisions are made with all players best interest in mind........

Girls High School hockey is technically / officially a 7th grade - 12 grade sport in the MNHSL. 7th grader girls have the right to try-out for the HS program. Coach's choice to keep them or send them back to the association. 8th grade girls are common JV participants in smaller HS programs and most ...

Shouldn't the goalie you're discussing be the U14A, or the U12A, goalie? If she's good enough to be an A goalie? I smell selfishness at the expense of the 2 youth programs. It does still come down to the families choice. The youth program does not have ownership of the kids any more than the HS doe...

Re: Hockey Camp vs AAA summer team
So what is better for little johnny Hockey Camp or Summer AAA team? Back to the original quote. Summer AAA - to me that implies June and July ice times too. Many, many teams set up and play AAA hockey April 1 - May 15 and August 1 - Sept 15. Others play March 15 - Sept 15 and still others play year...
