Re: Metro vs. Out State

Have there been any thoughts of having a game with the top metro players vs the top out state players, similar to what high school football does in the summer? Years ago Minnesota High School hockey had what was then the Maroon vs Gold series at the end of the high school season. That has morphed i...

Ahem, beating Anoka doesn't just give them a pass into the final. Still another one to play before that and they'll have their hands full in that one.

GR3343: I like how you sign your posts: "Character is who you are when no one is watching" It shows great character to bash kids. Really smooth. Good for the kids, they may never paly another minute of hockey after high school, but they sure had a big night the night they scored 7 goals!!...

Downing's career ended before it really took off. Off ice troubles and injury led to that. Last I heard of him, he was back in GR and was to be an assistant with the U19 Minnesota Crunch. As I haven't really followed that team, not sure if he assisted Marinucci or not. As for Finnegan, no clue.

That would be the safest, smartest bet for him in my opinion. Once you get the doctor's OK, that the ligament is fully healed, the problem isn't so much the risk of re-injury but more a matter of regaining muscle strength. This is why totally committing to the prescribed rehab program is so importa...

I wonder if he will be well enough to possibly join the NTDP up in Fargo for the U18 World Championship in April? I'm assuming, of course, that they'd want to take him if he had been playing HS all year. Hard to take him for two reasons - Not near ready for that after the injury, and not nearly rea...

I wasn't at the game, but it doesn't surprise me that Denfeld blew YET another game in the third. Which also makes me wonder whether Grand Rapids finally woke up in the third or Denfeld ran out of gas. The Hunters just don't have the depth to win close games. They are undoubtedly one of the worst t...

From what I heard from a guy that was at the game was first 2 periods Rapids was sleeping. In fact before the start of the 3rd. Rapids players weren't coming out until the ref finally went to go get them. Bruce must of chewed them a new one in between periods. Rapids played alot better. Oh yeah he ...

Greetings Hockey purests I have been on these boards as much or more than any of you. Let me fill in your obvious small minds on Mr, Clafton, his back ground, and his intentions. Begining after High school Two years Omaha Lancer under current Gopher coach Mike Hastings 3rd highest scoring Defensema...

Sad when people think they're great when they score against sub par opponents. Hanowski scores 7 against GW, so and so scores 7 or 8 against whoever. Let's see these players play someone worthy and score 7 or 8. Will never happen. The scoring record in the state is a joke because not every player is...

Would've been a good race this year, but I think he would have had his hands full with some great competition. There's several that would have made this a great debate. Don't think he would have been a run away.

I hear rehab is going well... He wants/hopes to be playing competitve hockey this spring. His desire is to be playing for the Gophers next year as opposed to playing a year of juniors. Best of luck to him. I wonder if he will be well enough to possibly join the NTDP up in Fargo for the U18 World Ch...

As always, IFalls will bring in a tough squad. Senior night at the IRA should provide a little extra adrenalin for the orange and black. Added to wanting a little revenge for taking the IRC title away from us last year. Looking for a close one with GR coming out on top. 4-2 with an empty netter for ...

Maybe a little more to it than that, but we'll never know. Joe's a solid kid and a solid player. Wouldn't be the first guy to run someone over out of frustration. I'm sure he'll be back soon and will continue to play tough.

Re: outside looking in

Strong argument can be made for Aaron Broten too. Maybe even Brian Bonin? Scott Bloom with two titles in 1985 and 1986. Dave Spehar. How bout the Broten family? Neal, Aaron, Paul, Jacob, Shawn. Did I miss any? All those boys plus their offspring kind of stack up as a mountain in my opinion. At leas...

Was a joke from start to finish. East was clearly better although didn't look great. 27 is hands down their best player. GR played like they didn't have a chance and knew it and never competed. Was an embarrassment to witness. Not all their players seemed like they wanted to be there and only a few ...
