Re: Future of Duluth Marshall
If the school can't find a school willing to co-op, then transfer or move become your MSHSL option... That is not my understanding of how it works. Schools pay a co-op "fee" to be part of a co-op. If the school has zero hockey players, they don't bother officially co-oping with another school and t...

The First Girls' Youth Hockey Team?
http://www.mvihf.org/files/girlshockey.jpg The defenseman sports a brown pony tail. She is Chris Kinard, 11, one of about 30 participants in a recently organized girls' hockey program, which probably is the first of its kind in Minnesota . Chris, like many of the other girls who range in age from 8-...

Re: Sports cut
Sadly, the next biggest line item for SCSU's athletic department to look at might be womens' hockey. That's true and there's now one more women's sport than men's sport at SCSU, so no Title IX issue. However, I think the one small thing in favor of women's hockey is the flack that UND received for ...

Minnesota HS Hockey Based Movie
Hope this turns out well... http://www.startribune.com/office-star-jenna-fischer-coming-to-minnesota-to-shoot-hockey-movie/565795122/ Has there ever been a more Minnesota-ish movie line than, "Is that the walleye we caught on Mille Lacs with the Jensen boys?" That snippet of dialogue will appear in ...

It won't kill him to play JV for a few weeks. He's still playing with friends and supporting his community team by doing so. (Sucks for the teams he's playing though!) Suck it up and don't be a primadonna kid.

Re: Canadian Teams
Another thing to keep in mind is that Canadian teams are organized by birthyear. For example, an '05 team would play at the bantam level as would an '06 team. Obviously, you'd expect the '05 AA team to fair much better than the '06 AA team.

Re: Bantams vs. High School
Heard mention of lawsuits from parents if the coach didn't allow it. Yeah, that's a legal landmine. The high school coaches (public and private) have a lot of leeway as to whom they keep/cut and award playing time to. I've seen associations threaten to blacklist or cut kids for trying out for HS te...

Grant Ahcan Commits to St. Cloud State
Nice get. I know he was interested in UND and Arizona State recently, but the Huskies pushed hard for him. Nice to keep him in state.
Congrats Grant!

Re: University of St Thomas
Hearing they’re being forced to Division I for sports... Anyone have any info on plans for the hockey team? Biggest problem is the arena. St. Thomas's 1,400 seat arena 7 miles from campus would be the second smallest in D1 hockey. Offering enough scholarships for a competitive D1 team would be diff...

Honestly surprised, but glad to hear it.
Let me know if you think MH would like to hear from me, but I don’t need to champion this idea if someone from MH wants to take up the mantle.

Evan Bushy and Garrett Pinoniemi on the same team. That should be interesting from an SCSU fan perspective. ? Pinoniemi, Bryce Brodzinski, and Nate Warner all ditched SCSU to follow Bob Motzko to Minnesota. Pinoniemi will be playing alongside SCSU recruit Evan Bushy in Sioux Falls, Bryce Brodzinski...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
Evan Bushy is at the Sioux Falls training camp. He's a lock to get a full time roster spot if he wants one. Not sure if they'll let him do a before/after. I was told he will not be returning to TRF this season by a good source. Sure there is a chance things could change if doesnt go well early. Eva...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey
The bottom line is like or not, HS hockey is no longer a community sport. It's now a group of all star teams. Nah, it’s more like college sports. The top schools attract top players while the mediocre and small schools have just the locals. Also, just like other college sports, the areas rich with ...
