 That is funny. And you registered for the Duluth tourney, not the Cloquet tourney, correct?

I love visiting Duluth, but everyone wants to go there. I think the Icebreaker tourney has gotten too big. If it's a 4-game guarantee, I'm pretty sure that's a new policy. Last year, we were three and out. Done by early afternoon on Saturday. Be prepared to ask your team to take Friday off of school...

Okay, I'm old-fashioned. It used to mean something to play for your local high school. It was a source of community pride 20 years ago to say your community had the best hockey team. All that has to be thrown out the window if you can just switch teams whenever you want. Maybe it just doesn't matte...

Some great thoughts already expressed. I think associations need to be more cost conscious, and conscious of the time commitment that youth hockey (at 10's and above) requires. Cost and time commitment are barriers to participation. But again, starting at the 4-8 age level with free or low-cost opti...

Yes, there should be more interest (i.e., physical attendance) by hockey dads and hockey moms alike. ... so I'd say our dads are incredibly involved (not only attending games, but coaching and managing youth teams, serving on boards, etc.). .... sinbin, I agree with you on all counts. I mentioned this in another thread, but it bears repeating. Part of the reason for poor attendance is bias by hockey dads. Some of the very individuals who encouraged--or allowed--their little Natalies to play the game are apathetic about the biggest thing for girls in this great State of Hockey: Th...

Attendance seemed way off last night. Where was everyone? C'mon armchair hockey fans. Your daughter's season is over. But the hockey season is at its climax. Don't give me this crappppp: "nah, but I'll definitely go the Boys tourney...me and my buddies always go." Grab your daughters &...

A test of your assertion is to compute the KRAPPI rating for subsets of a players games. Using Amy Peterson from Minnetonka as an example. Compute here KRAPPI rating against BSM, Warroad, EP, Hill-Murray, Buffalo, Edina, Blake and Hopkins (13 games) and compare the result to games against Apple Val...

Wow! A walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 9th! Congrats to both teams on a great game! I'd say LN's goalie, Cassie Alexander, was the star of the game, stopping 59 shots! I seriously doubt the Championship game can top this. But you should go anyway & support Girls HS Hockey at its best. G...

This post addresses the KRACH RATING vs KRACH SOS RANK discussion LuckeyEP & I had a while back. First, AVG KRACH RANK is what I used. It's the average KRACH rank of opponents. Lower number = more highly ranked team. Find them here, under the column heading AVG: http://www.bgoski.com/KRACH_SOS.h...

Bandy, I like your thoughtfulness on the SOS-adjusted PPG, but I think you need to come up with a better acronym than KRAPPI. Just sayin' . . . Not that KRACH is the best acronym, either, but just sayin' . . . Got something better? It came to me in a vision, and I didn't want to tempt fate. ...

No Kate Flug? Wow! Alot of good players but I think they missed the mark on that one. Flug was named 2nd team. How did they miss the mark? That's quite an honor. Amy Peterson ranks above Bowman, Rooney, Menke, Flug, & Wolfe in KRAPPI. If anyone missed the mark, I'd say they missed it by not put...

End of season KRAPPIs. I calculated KRAPPI & a new stat based on goals (KRAPGI) for the top 210 points leaders off of Hub. I’ll post an update in a couple minutes. Here’s a refresher on calculations: Adjusted Points Per Game = (Points – (PIM*penalty))/(Number of games). The penalty for PIM for K...

Lucky, that clears things up a little. Your comments were thought provoking--more than you might think at first glance. Yep, that's the problem. SOS uses the average of the KRACH rankings, not the average of the KRACH ratings. Rankings are qualitative measures. Then tell you team N is better than te...

Just to make sure we're on the same page, I use AVG (3rd column in http://www.bgoski.com/KRACH_SOS.htm). MV has an AVG SOS of 41.3; Benilde is 38.5. They're really similar SOS. EP has an AVG SOS of 19, so about twice as tough of a schedule as Benilde (lower AVG = tougher schedule). This is where I ...
