GR's Johnson to be honored
Longtime GR sports broadcaster Larry Johnson will be honored prior to the Grand Rapids vs Duluth Central game this evening. Larry has been a part of the GR sports community for 30 plus years and has called over 1200 games not including post season. Larry always had a way of allowing a listener to vi...

[ Reminds me of Jake Youso. All offense. Anyone know if and where he is playing? Waterloo USHL-23games 1g 4 asst for 5 pts. +1 with 33 penalty min I thought you can only play in the USHL for 2 years? I must be wrong, anyone know when he is expected to make his Gopher deput? Never. He decommitted a ...

I felt that this game could have gone either way. In my opinion East is far more talented and has a lot more speed than Rapids but GR does a lot of little things that impressed me. They play tremendous defense. The players are always in a good position to make a play defensively. Rapids blocked a h...

I will give a different observation on the game. If Rapids 3rd line moves the puck they win this game. East thought they would roll in and post a 6 or 7 goal win. Did not happen they were outplayed in spurts and likewise turned it up in spurts just 2 good teams going toe to toe. Rapids first line l...

Anyone know why John Scheuer didn't start in nets for Cloquet? Because he didn't win the starting job for this game. Boyd Smith did. This will probably be a season long battle for the job. The goaltending was the least of the Jacks problems last night. PiperSniper - a "dominating" performance is a ...

I dont how the iron range team is picked i am assuming the coaches pick but the iron range team could be a lot better and its a shame to the players who obviouly deserve to be on the team Players who should be on the team that arent Marcus Bugliosi Hibbing- The 4th leading forward scorer on the iro...

Holy cow I did not expect this at all. I saw the East team back in November when they came through town and thought even though they were not as deep as last years team still had enough at the forward positions to get past Grand Rapids come region time. Guess my observation was wrong on this and so...

Go to a field of 64 similar to March Madness. Have a north, south, east, west bracket, and seed the teams 1-16 in 8 regions. Play the games at sites such as the mini Ralph, DECC, IRA, Hibbing, for the north and utilize some of the great venues in the the other areas. You'd most likely have your bett...

No to the initial question. To clarify the initial question: will any present sophs (not the super team juniors) have any impact at JV or Varsity levels? EP does not have any sophs that will have any impact at all on the team at any level? I would call that an amazing statistical anomaly if you con...

Opinion, "if" a player has been involved with hockey from youth level on up there should be a place for them to play. Cutting someone that has put up to 14 years of their young life into a sport they won't get to enjoy again, is a bad message to send. They were good enough to play through all those...

I am so confused. Every post by a Gopher fan talks about how they get first choice and all the best recruits. Then the same posters jump all over everyone who questions Don Lucia's coaching ability and praise him as the best. When a team plays like the Gophers have this year can it be both? NO! Opt...
