Umm... Century finished 3rd, the top 3 teams were the 3 outstate teams.

If I had to pick,
1) Lakeville N, Dodge Cty or Mayo as a darkhorse
2) Burnsville or Edina, the toughest section in the state
3) Woodbury, may be a worse section than 1AA
4) With Hill, Roseville, WBL it's anyones race
5) Centennial
6) Wayzata, another bad section
7) East
8) Roseau

Should Richfield be AA? In my mind yes, but I don't know the status of their youth program. Though a kid from Richfield has a much better opportunity to skate in June or September than a kid form Luverne, LaCrescent or Ely has. That's why I think there should be an appeal process to go down to A. Te...

Did you read anything I wrote? No. You like the fact STA and teams like that with all their advantages can beat up on teams that can only skate for 4 months a year. I don't care if Holy Family or Spring Lake Park goes 0-25. They should be AA schools. This isn't football, basketball, or even tennis. ...

ncaa tournament contest

Someone, majinhockey maybe, has run an NCAA tournament contest on here the past few years, no one has started one as of yet so I figured I would.

AA hockey should be the pinnacle of the sport, until a team like Edgerton wins the A title there is no argument. Since 1996 in A hockey every title has been won either a private metro school or a team with easy access to year around ice, the teams without those advantages haven't fared as well. Sme ...

Bahneman is a senior so he won't be around next year, though Adoyfin (sp) is their biggest loss IMO. Lourdes has a ton of scoring coming back and a decent goalie. Though with their defensive miscues and no real stong defensemen I doubt they'll be as dominant as they were when they last were in 1A I ...

What concerns me is that after the mess that was last season Childress doesn't seem to be making any moves to improve. Either Zygi has complete confidence in him and Childress knows his job isn't on the line or Childress is such an arrogent horses butt he really thinks his system will win in the NFL...

They used it to wave off 4 goals tonight but didn't use it to give Faupel his when clearly the ref screwed that one up. If you're going to use it, use it both ways. Also a skate n the crease not anywhere near the goalie or the play should not warrant a man in the crease call, especially when there's...

Getting to the Liffey would have forced me to walk outearly on the best game of the day, regardless of who won I thought it was the most entertaining game to watch. You're right Packerboy, the private schools may want to turn their efforts to passing rules against guys standing uncovered in front of...

Great idea, if you divide the state in half North and South the North has 5 AA teams, Roseau, Moorhead, East, Cloquet and Grand Rapids. And you want 4 of them to make it? Grand Rapids didn't win 11 of their 28 games coming into the State Tournament plus they were a #3 seed they didn't deserve a top ...

Braves 3
Indians 2

Burnsville just seems to have the karma and I didn't like the way Grand Rapids ended the game, their tank seemed empty.

I thought a couple of Panthers had their worst game of the season; Knutson and Wilcox to name a couple and still Century fought hard and won. The first two games featured text book examples of what happens when you don't backcheck or cover up out front. Woodbury's top line with #9 showed zero intere...

To each his own, I gave up fast food for Lent but it seems the Catholic powers gave up goaltending and defense for Lent: Burnsville-6 goals on 18 shots in their win over AHA, Century-6 goals on 22 shots in their win over H-M. Oh and hey H-M when a kid gets 2 goals on you, you may want to put a body ...

His answer left room for a lot of interpretation; did he mean in the whole state or just in the state tournament? I took it as just in the state tournament and tend to agree with him. Patrick White from Grand Rapids & Nick Larson from Hill-Murray are both top 51 prospects and in the AA field. Jo...

Lakeville's top line held Century's top line to 0 points in the section final, yet Century still scored 5 goals. Unlike any team that's came out of Rochester since 1989 this team has more than 1 line. I don't believe Century has the defense or goaltending to pull the upset, but you can't score from ...

Hopefully the new 1A will move their section tournament back to Rochester, nothing against St. Peter and Inver Grove Heights but the Rec Center is a much better place to watch a hockey game. Also for us oldtimers the "new" 1A looks an awful lot like the "old" Big Nine, add to tha...

Century just went through a stretch of playing some below average teams. Earlier in the year when this happened they couldn't adjust to Duluth Marshall and although the score was close the outcome was never really in doubt, despite Marshall being called for 7 straight penalties in the 3rd period. I think it's a pretty good draw for Albert Lea. I'm not sure the Tigers match up well with Duluth Marshall's size or St. Thomas' speed. Two years ago Albert Lea gave Warroad all they could handle, I think neither team is as good as they were two years ago, but at least in Albert Lea's case they have...
