Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final
CupGuy: What’s your definition of Tier 1 and 2? How old are you stanleycup? Obviously you do not remember Tier 2. It rewarded failure. I have no problem with redesigning the system to allow smaller, weaker programs but Tier 2 di not promote anything but losing. coaches going into a game, players go...

Re: AA state tourney seeding
Ultimately, I think STA, WBL, EP, MH and DE have arguments why they could be seed 3-5 or left unseeded. I think everyone agrees with 1. Edina 2. Blaine Lakeville unseeded. The 3-7 could be argued so many ways. So here's my comparison for WBL. STA has some good wins, so I assume they deserve the #3,...

Re: First Round
Let’s save that matchup for Friday or Saturday 😁😁 I want Saturday. Nothing better than Cake South vs Cake North. The only play during state and Vorliky said it on his YHH interview, their biggest rival would be DE if they played more than at state. Give the state their most anticipated game that th...

Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final
You guys complaining about homefield advantage for DE, check out the unfairness of 6A. How about 4AA. HM gets to play on the same home ice they play and practice on all year. Bring back the Friday night double header at the Warner/Rose Coliseum. I think Friday Night Section Finals would be great. E...

Re: The 2019 Seedings thread
Regarding Moorhead/Duluth East. I think there's a case for both sides. Moorhead: Head to Head win. Duluth East: Different team this point in the season; credit for high ranking win over Andover. I've made the case that EP should be no worse than the #4. Question is: would Moorhead & Duluth East...

Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final
So does that mean the outstate teams are at a disadvantage at state tournament? I think they are....which is why it's so cool when the North beats the metro....No matter what anyone says traveling wears kids down a little. Staying at hotel versus sleeping in your own bed is a slight distraction. Al...

Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final
So does that mean the outstate teams are at a disadvantage at state tournament? Let's take a look at the student sections on Thursday. If DE and Moorhead have the same size sections as everyone else then we know the kids want to come. Not sure why Andover only had 2/3 of a section of kids for last ...

Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final
I will say, Ricky Lyle played the game of his Life last night, ☝️2 goals and either 1 or 2 assists, including the pass on the GWG, that was such a good pass (even) RD could finish it😉 Especially Ricky & FH Paine, led their team to a win over a faster, more flashy team by playing smash mouth hoc...

Re: AA state tourney seeding
1) Edina, that's a gimme 2) Blaine, as close to a gimme as possible but tied DEast the day after DE lost to Champlain Park. This will be needed later 3) STA, seems to be the best spot. Blaine is flat out better but STA could give them a scare come semis if both move on 4)EP, A good thumping of Moorh...

Re: The 2019 Seedings thread
By this standard, DEast right next to Blaine and EP then so Moorhead should get the 3 seed. That cant happen because EP Thumped Moorhead 6-1.

Re: Mr. Hockey and Frank Brimsek Award Finalists
I do not want to take anything away from Frits or Glock, but I think it is Boynton's this year. If we look at this as a lifetime achievement, like the YHH podcast team keeps iterating, BB took an 8-14-3 CP team to 17-5-0 with not a whole lot of help defensively. Yes, Frits and Glock have stronger SO...

NAHL, maybe the Wilderness, or Fairbanks, I seem to recall he played a couple games for them last fall. It's the Magicians. He's tendered there. I think he's going after the high school season ends. Been to about 7 games. Magicians are a great spot for him. He joined them on their first Alaska trip...

Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final
Lyle is on a tare right now. 6G 3A of the 12 goals scored by the hounds, and wow did he have some big hits today. If Lyle and Paine show up to hit like they did today, Andover will need all of the speed they have to slip past those two. Donovan needs to maintain the possession like he did today. He ...

Re: Play-off Games Saturday 2/23/19
Stunning! The way HF is playing right, especially with Huber in net, this will be a tough team for EP to take down, but HF will need to find ways to put the puck in the net more frequently. Congrats to HF. Didn't expect they could keep up with Tonka for two years in a row. Here is Pete Waggoner's c...

Surprising (or not so) Upsets
I was doing a bit of browsing between phone calls today, and I noticed that there have been 3 6/3 upsets so far. Owatonna, Minneapolis and South St. Paul. There have been a few 5/4 upsets, but I am not to worried about those because, for the most part, they are usually swapable in the standings and ...

Re: Ryder Donovan to Wisconsin
A much bigger issue in my eyes is the expansion of hockey into most of the country. When states are turning out 5 Div I players each year those are coming out of the more traditional markets. I think that the value of college hockey is the problem. For the mid-west, and the east coast, hockey is va...

Re: Ryder Donovan to Wisconsin
What created the glut of supply? I would argue that the use of juniors has expanded the age range of the players and therefore expanded the supply. A much bigger issue in my eyes is the expansion of hockey into most of the country. When states are turning out 5 Div I players each year those are com...

Re: 7AA 2018-2019
. . . I’m going to be curious to see what kind of forecheck East will run, and will that be adjusted vs Andover provided they advance past their rivals? I think that East is somewhat of a mystery team right now. Thanks to Karl and others for providing us insight into what they've done in the games ...
