From an unbiased outsider, let me sum it up. I've seen Eagan play and they are a very skilled, physical team. They will be competitive in the Tournament (if they don't fall into a coma in Sections). Whether that translates into a championship, 3rd place, or 6th place, who knows. We'll find out in M...

Agree with keepyourheadup. There are very few Kyle Rau type players that can go directly from HS to D1 hockey. If you check history, there are more failures that successes. I found this informative: http://www.asha.pointstreaksites.com/files/uploaded_documents/74/MHCA_-_2010_Jack_Blatherwich_Advanc...

Now your post makes sense...Do us all a favor and just state my kid was never looked at as being able to participate with the blades and I think he should have so I'll hold a grudge on them. If your kid has an opportunity to play on that team I highly doubt you say no....and if you if you say other...

4. Your comment about players we have to release is unfair. You should talk to some of them. If you want to tell me who you are, I can privately give you some names. If you think it's unfair to you, you should see how the kids themselves feel. I don't need names, thank you, I already know some of t...

The Blades do not develop hockey players. They seek out and invite the best players. They cut players who aren't up to their standards. They wanted to cut Erik Johnson. If a player moves on and gets to a high enough level, they'll take credit for him. If not, they can't even remember the kid's name.

Look at Rochester folks. Competitive youth A teams because city is combined for RYHA, then the high schools are weak because the players split up 4 ways or the ones that can afford it go to Lourdes. The youth programs need to be seperate to build solid teams all the way through high school. Bottom ...

The high schools. Plural. The Kennedy coach is just as important as the Jefferson coach. They're equal. You misunderstood what I was trying to say...probably my fault. Anyway, I think I've said all that's worth saying on this. Good luck to everyone trying to improve their hockey program and by exte...

Or, a few. There are really only a handful of Youth Hockey Associations based where there's more than one high school so in most instances you're correct. My point is the decision needs to be based on what's best for the Youth Association and all the youth hockey players in the community. I think w...

the Jefferson head coach Has nothing to do with the Jefferson coach and can't. Youth hockey associations have nothing to do with high schools. Two entirely separate organizations. Youth Hockey Associations are to develop youth hockey players regardless of where they go to high school. While you're ...

Let me ask. Who benefits more if they do combine? Jefferson or Kennedy? Which program is pushing more to combine? Jefferson or Kennedy? What is the logic behind combining the programs? Let's hope its not about winning. Jefferson is already competitive in D6. Kennedy is a weaker program but if you c...

The whole thing is based on recruiting 4-5-6 year olds. Recruiting is made easier when more teams are doing well because they're playing at the right level. Development is better when players are playing with other players with similar ability which makes for more fun and successful seasons. A sing...

Don't combine! If people want to combine the youth program then winning becomes more important than development. Why not field two A teams at every level? Is winning more important than the opportunity to play on an A team and developing your skills? FYI, neither Jefferson or Kennedy will be winnin...

On a non hockey note, I have personal experience with both high schools. In my opinion Kennedy is far superior academically. Going to seriously disagree with you here. . . .Jefferson had 4 national merit finalists last year. . . I'm not sure if Kennedy had any!! I see your point, believe me. I was ...

Bullseye, just so you know the transfer process has always been that way. It's never been open enrollment because both schools are the same district. I don't know it for a fact but I assume the same would be true in Lakeville maybe. The fact that it's closed for the High Schools right now might be d...

A single youth association would help attract and retain more players. The point about more kids playing at the appropriate level is an important one. More kids will have fun and success by playing at the right level. By growing the single association both high schools would get more and better pla...

This situation will continue to deteriorate long term for both programs. Bloomington is getting older and has not been able to keep young affluent families moving in as Edina has. In the short term, Bloomington could be competitive again if the entire city combined (Which D6 is in favor of). This wo...
