Re: If Minnesota Made were an association...

How would MM compare in size to other metro associations? In terms of number or teams and skaters. With the Mite rules changes coming in 2013 (no full ice games) could the metro support another MM-sized private association? MM mites with approximately 6 teams at each level would be comparable in si...

I guess I don't mind the open tryouts so much. What I do mind is all the kids wearing last year's jersey with their name across the back. If we had pinnies we could at least pretend that your last name doesn't matter. I would also like to see independent evaluators, especially when you have parent c...

Are you sure? I thought both were going to be at Braemar.

I would bet a good number of kids get bumped in Edina from Squirts through Bantams from kids coming in. No they don't. Does it happen? Sure, but it's infrequent. And I would say you better be in the top 5 - 7 if you're going to try it. Like all Associations Edina is political and the bubble spots a...

I took Walker and Hurley off the list as I still don't have confirmation that they've moved on to the WHL or the USHL respectively. I noticed that neither is on an Elite League roster though, but it could be they are just considered too young. The Hub has Hurley listed on the Team Southwest roster.

Here is the response I received from Minnesota Hockey: "USA Hockey did adopt a rule that the standard playing surface for Mites and younger is cross-ice or half-ice surface beginning the 2013-14 season. In the rule there is a provision for states to apply for exceptions to the rule of no full i...

Per the rumor mill, Edina is losing two high-end bantams to SSM, along with their dads who were the bantam A coaches. Also, at least two others are skating with the high school players this summer and may end up on varsity for the Hornets. This coming after the PWA team was a disappointment last se...

I saw the same thing on another message board. I looked on the USA Hockey site for some confirmation but coudn't find anything (I never can on that site, horrible IMO). If anyone has a link or any other kind of confirmation please post it. If this happens it could be the death knell for Association ...

Are the mega associations going to have MULTIPLE A teams since they usually had 2-3 in the top 20 at B-1's? They said this was partly about getting stronger B-1 teams at the A level, right? We all know they would piss pound teams if they combined their best from all their ranked B-1 teams and forme...

From what I have heard he isn't their best goalie. They added a 3rd who is better than the other 2.
Local goalie or out of state?

Hope they do well!

You live in a small town where hockey is not big. You fight and scratch and hope that you don't lose a kid to injury or something so that you have enough kids for a team. Your kids play multiple sports rather than be those single sport kids like the big city kids are. For someone so enlightened you...

My guess is why you are struggling with this is that you expect hockey to be pure, transparent and follow a published step by step process but it doesn't work that way. Not hockey in general because we all know it is not these things. What I would expect though is that USA Hockey, the organization ...

The EHS Boosters club actually spearheaded this project and obtained about $1 million in private pledges so the bill to the taxpayers is not the full $3 mill. Still a big chunk of change though, I would rather have another rink or at least a refrigerated outdoor sheet.

Just one man's opinion, but changing demographics in those communities is a huge factor. It's alright to say it. Scream it. Does not make you a RACIST. Jeez, we've become so afraid of the label now that we dare talk about race, especially we Caucasians. No, it's not racist. but I guess the ghetto c...
