RE:Section 3A

Obviously it will be a 3 horse race with STA, RW, and Lourdes via for the state berth. None of the teams have played particularly well and at this point you could reasonable make a case for any of them.

STA definately has the most offensive talent, adequate defense and good goaltending.
<b...

Moorhead vs GR

I thought it was a good game, showed up well on TV. As far as the teams went, Moorhead definately a top ten team. GR had way too much trouble with Spuds forecheck and team speed. Their Goalie was great however. Moorhead, while looking good, showed a lot of vulnerability in their own end. Too many tu...

Rochester Hockey

You're right Hockbest. On a year to year basis if the talent in Rochester were pooled to one or even two high schools they would consistently compete at the state level in AA. As it is, because of dilution Rochester hockey is often overlooked.

That said, I believe JM is the best of the four t...

Roch teams

A few other thoughts -

with four schools in Rochester there is obviously a lot of talent here. Canzanillo may be the best d-man in the state, if not the best player.

John Marshall has gotten off to a good start, racking up some big numbers against Winona and a good win over a solid Man...

Mahtomedi

At 2-1, with wins over Richfield and Totino and a 3-2 loss to Stillwater in their first game, I'd same the Zephyrs are in danger of passing under the radar. Anyone have an idea about these guys?

Schedule

Certainly their schedule has been strong this year early on, but it is not really any tougher than most good programs go thru. Look at STA, Blake, etc. It obviously helps to make up for a weak Missota conf schedule (except AHA of course).

The fact that they have come thru the first four games...

Class A D-men

Class A I'd say Red Wing has perhaps the best group of 4; with Duluth and Hibbing.

Lourdes vs Red Wing

It was obviously a very even game, with both teams getting good chances to win in the 3rd and OT. Clearly it shows that Section 3 is going to be a very competative section with three legit teams having a chance, although again can't rule out Northfield.

Lourdes definately stepped up and playe...

Successful Programs

Let's face it - AHA, STA, Breck, HM are more about recruiting than developing and sustaining a prgram. AHA is effectively drawing from a population base of 500,000 to 1 million. Community based programs - such as Northfield, Shakopee, Warroad, TRF are having to rely on their amateur program to devel...

Shakopee

Shakopee is much stronger than most are giving them credit. They do have very solid 2 lines of forwards and good - if somewhat inconsistent goal tending. Honestly tho the scoring totals don't mean much given their competition thus far. Their D is not that deep and could give them problems with stron...

Re: Red Wing vs AHA

NO way is RW ready for AHA. RW has played well thus far (only 3 games!), but honestly there are still a number of Class A schools that would give them alot of trouble. TRF, Warrod, Duluth D, Mahtomedi, STA are all stronger with several still waiting in the wings - Shakopee, Norhtfield, Faribault and...
