Re: Save the Govies...
If the MSHSL (they are the problem) and the schools themselves can’t figure out the obvious…..most high school sports will be done in ~10 years. You are going to run out of officials. While bad decisions by local youth hockey associations, changing demographics, and cost are all factors. There is a ...

No, I am saying humans do bad things, we are all sinners. John 8:7. I am not the one to throw the first stone. Neither are you. I do not condone his behavior by any means. I am not embarrassing myself. It is really pretty ironic how people want to judge others. That this sin committed by someone els...

Re: Games Saturday 2-4-23
John Marshall beats Century 4-1. JM in probably their last year of existence has now beaten their cross town rivals in their last games. The Rockets probably also made their section seed much better. Beating Mayo, Northfield, and Century in the past few weeks is going out on a high. Now to vanquish ...

Re: EYE-POPPER GAMES
John Marshall has now beaten the presumptive #1 seed in 1A Northfield and the presumptive #2 or #3 seed in 1AA in Mayo. For a program probably in their last season and without a JV they are going out with a bang. Seeding #2 through #7 will be a crapshoot in 1AA. Hockey hub has Century beating East 1...

Re: Sections 1AA, 4AA and 8AA
The problem with Prior Lake is now you take a metro team West of I-35. Not a 1AA team in any form in any sport. Look at the administrative sections. I think I 35 is the boundary for metro schools. Arbitrary as it is. Owatonna and Lakeville both abut I-35 on the West but don’t cross it. I don’t think...

Re: Sections 1AA, 4AA and 8AA
1AA….. they have been an issue in hockey for a while. Not so much in other sports and the MSHSL uses the same system for every sport. In section 1 land we have the same complaint in football others do in hockey. I think next year the MSHSL realigns the sections. John Marshall is probably done as a s...

Re: EYE-POPPER GAMES
Rochester John Marshall 5 Rochester Mayo 3 WOW Goldy fill us in this seems shocking John Marshall is a decent 1AA team. There is a lot of emotions here as John Marshall may not exist as a stand alone program after this year. This may have been the last JM/Mayo game ever. This game in the 80’s drew ...

Re: Coldest Rinks in MN
There is a difference between playing in and watching in. For me playing was the old Shattuck arena, they shut the water off when the ground got to cold. No resurfacing of the ice, they would just scrape it. Mark Dusbabek (future Gopher and Viking) broke panes of glass there, often….requiring long s...

I met Mitch once, the door he knocked on hangs on the wall next to my 1977 Todd Lecy autographed breezers in my man cave. As a Mayo graduate Mitch might love that or hate that. I don’t think there is a middle ground.

Rochester Century 3 Northfield 2 Century is not bad but going to a top 10 A school and winning isn’t a great look for Class A. A nice win for Century though. The Raiders may be the top rated Page2stat team they play in the regular season. Maybe that computer having New Ulm higher than Northfield got...

From the Rochester Post Bulletin….. The (John Marshall) Rockets play Mayo at 3pm Saturday at Graham Arena in what will be their only meeting of the season. After 56 years and 127 games Saturday’s game could be the last in the series. The Rockets are facing 3 possibilities for the 2023-2024 season. 1...

An educational guess puts a few of these kids at Dodge County. If you are on the western edge of Rochester you may actually be in the Byron school district, If you are close and have the means…..you aren’t going to John Marshall. Word on the street is John Marshall and Century will be a co-op next y...

You are right.
However, geographically who makes 1AA better? St Thomas is the only logical school. Park and Simley are probably the next two. Hastings didn’t, Apple Valley/Burnsville wouldn’t. 1AA is just buying time for Northfield.

Re: AA Rankings for 12/25/22
Yep. Also, two teams that shouldn’t be anywhere near top 10 after this week are Hill Murray and Lakeville South. Unfortunately, Lakeville South still has arguably the easiest path to state tourney of any other team, due to Section 1AA being awful. Man, it’s time to move some other south metro teams...

My argument for years has been access to year around ice. Schools that do should be AA. Schools that don’t are A. Why is Hermantown, with all their available year around ice put in the same class as Worthington? A school with local access to 4 months of ice? Every school in Minnesota that plays foot...

If you go back to the decade of the 80’s….12 teams played in the state championship game. Today only 2 or 3 are relevant….. Hill Murray, Edina, and Grand Rapids. Burnsville, Apple Valley, Jefferson, John Marshall, Irondale, Mariner, and Kennedy are either no longer in existence, irrelevant, or gone ...
