Well, that's two years in a row that Hermantown has beaten the eventual AA champ during the regular season. But A is where they belong. They have now won 58 straight games vs A teams, have been to 8 straight title games, have won two straight A titles and now three overall. But A is where they belon...

This thread has really went flying off into space...bottom line is the class a tournament for hockey SHOULD BE for smaller schools who can't compete at the AA Level. Hermantown has proved the past 10 years they can compete at the AA Level. Same with STA and they moved up and have made AA State 2 of...

As a side note. It took us overtime to beat Luverne, with arguably the best team in our history. They have obviously rasied their game and so has Delano and a few others. Maybe it's time you from all the other associations start looking at how you can improve your situation and not worry so much ab...

Plante seems surprised that he and the program are getting hammered on so hard by just about every hockey fan in MN. He clearly is not aware of the concept of karma. It made perfect sense to him to bash STA and Breck every year, but why-oh-why are others doing that to us now? It's great to see a pro...

This whole "You need to get better" argument drives me nuts, for a couple reasons: 1. The mantra for every team and every kid in the state should be "Get better!". 2. The teams in 7A HAVE GOTTEN BETTER!!!!!!!! - Denfeld had a top ten A team just two years ago - Virginia has a group of sophomores tha...

Happy to sign this petition. Too bad they set the goal at only 200 signatures. Gotta think big when confronting runaway avarice. :)

Edit: They have moved the goal up to 500 signatures, and they have over 400 so far. :o

The petition will be submitted to the Hermantown AD. Interesting...

The argument in years past has been that they don't always have the numbers or talent to compete at the AA level. Be that as it may, neither does Roseau or other schools who opt up to AA. There will be years where they can compete in AA, and years where they may be middle of the pack. Either way, 7...

Agreed, Hermantown has too much fire power. It's been said a million times; but i'll say it again, sure would of been interesting if they opted up 2 years ago to see what they really could of done. Agreed 100%. It is an affront to the hockey gods that teams as good as the Hawks have been the last t...

Yes, Hermantown has more speed, skill, and open-enrolled talent than Greenway does, but big upsets are big upsets because no one gives the underdog a realistic chance at winning.

4-3 Raiders.

I'm late to the party, but the Hibbing-Greenway game was fantastic. Very tight game between two closely matched teams. Greenway played great team defense and their goalie was strong. I felt bad for the Hibbing kids but it was neat to see Greenway reach the 7A title game just a few years after there ...

During the winter of 2003 or 2004 I remember attending a Bantam A game at Freezeberger between Duluth East & Hermantown. DE was led by Connolly & Fairchild, HT by Lablanc & Huttel. Great game, very competitive, 2 teams that played at least twice per season and accordingly didn't like each other. DE...

First things first, it's not easy. But when you win here, there is nothing better.
Congrats to the Hawks program for getting to the next level! Can't wait to see an East-Hermantown matchup. :D

Re: Falls beats Greenway

Falls beat Greenway 4-3 in OT. Falls was the better team. It actually should not have gone into OT as the refs missed a Falls goal as it barely crossed the goal line. It was clearly a goal before a Greenway reached in and pulled it out. Wow. Just gone done watching an excellent Virginia-Eveleth gam...

Not that it's at all strange for Herm to play AA teams, but I do wonder if this is a signal they are going AA next year.

Or is Duluth Marshall tired of having them win the Hilltopper classic every year, so they booted them out?

EGF gets the game winner with 40 seconds left to win 4-3. Shots were about 28 apiece. Good game between two evenly matched teams, but disappointing for Hibbing as EGF gave them several pps in the 3rd, but Hibbing was as disorganized as I've seen them.
