I know it won't happen, but I'd love Minnesota hockey to require; Peewees and below...heck Bantams and below to use wooden sticks. There are rules for bats in youth baseball, have rules for wooden sticks. The kids can use what they want in the summer I guess; but at least it would save each family a...

You made me laugh. Thanks. I didn't say that goalies shoud be sitting home eating chips and getting fat. No, goalies need to work harder than skaters but it doesn't need to be having knuckheads firing shots at them 12 months out of the year; or contorting their bodies in unnatural positions-- the bu...

Correct on the stress of the body which is why goalies should take 2-3 months off in the summer to refresh. Goalies aren't like skaters in that they can take time off---don't need to put stress on joints and have pucks flung at them 12 months a year. All a goalie needs is two weeks in the fall to ge...

no horse in the race; this topic should be done. I hope he scores 20 goals this weekend, the kid--he's a kid--has been vilified enough by people who don't have anything better to do. If it was as bad as some say/think, the Stillwater players will have 7 seasons to get SH back....but it sounds like a...

I would say that EP had an overachieving year; with the young team they put on the ice, losing almost everyone off of last year's team, having two sophomore goalies, they beat Tonka, Wayzata, Eagan. So they lose a game to a hot goalie, while they had many guys injured...yes, district game and last g...

I have coached goalies for many years; I specifically coach them as they hard from post to post to drive through the post if necessary. The post shouldn't give but as we know most rink nets are put into place very gingerly. Also in the olden days, a two leg stack to the post was the best way to get ...

I agree... a lot of pucks hit him because of his size? Sounds like a great goaltender if that is happening. Can't develop size so he has that going for him. I've seen him a couple of times and I really like what I see. Goal tenders go through hot times and cold times during season and he really hasn...

Elliott, don't know what agenda is, but I've seen two Bantam A games this past week....six checking from behind penalties--three each game; five of them may not have been called a month ago; one was blatant/scary to watch. I support all of them being called. When will new High School League rules be...

SBmom? Don't you have treats you need to buy for a soccer game? sorry to hear about what you described, that should never happen. Don't take the Edina bashing to personal, this story deserves to be discussed because 1) its pretty darn funny to think someone is that dumb 2) its Edina and we are all j...

I love everyone's comments for those that weren't there or don't know what transpired. I have children that have competed against Edina teams the past six years coached by the two current Bantam A coaches...in the summer and in the winter. I speak for the majority in that I'd enjoy having both coach...

Squirt A to Bantam A changes in team.
A lot of conversation on these posts about how development happens at different times; if you don't make a squirt A team, don't worry you still can make Bantam A team, play varsity, play college etc. I agree with this 200% and usually think the turnover is significant from Squirt A's to Bantam A's. ...
