I think its 50-50, but I recently spoke with one of Grun's neighbors, and from that conversation, I took that White Bear will heavily reliant upon him. They'll be good as usual, but right there I had a WB grad tellin me they won't be as good. I'm confident the Pioneers will come forth with their best game, WB has to be ready.

Not to be too critical, but I think that even down, Wayzata will prepare Hill better than Century will White Bear.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... lhockey at: 11/30/05 9:59 am

HILLHOCKEY hopefully you arent passing that attitude to your fellow pioneers because if you are, it wont be worth your four bucks to watch aldrich be painted orange and black for yet another season.

wbhock15 -

didn't take long for someone to start talking smack which is a bit humorous and very predictable. as almost always is the case should be a 1 goal game going either way in this great rivalry. a bounce of the puck, bad penalty, or soft goal might be the difference. hope both teams play hard and display good sportsmanship and some class.

Like many area hockey fans without kids, I hold allegiance for many teams, depending on the night. I like to follow what player or what team is really doing well and stop bye to see why or to see if I can figure out what they could do better.

The WB/ HM teams are probably my all time favorites. I'll be there Dec 6, you betcha. Hillhockey says 50/50. I say 60/40 WB. I think the bears are mentally meaner, maybe have a conditioned confident edge over HM in my opinion if that makes sense. That's my take knowing the rosters pretty good.

Grun is a general and is never in a hurry. Don't underestimate his style. Flying Arrigoni is a crowd pleaser. It will be a great game.

Last year White Bear was a much better team than Hill but only won the game 3-2, and Hill had a lot of great chances to tie and take the lead late in that game. White Bear as usual has a very solid team, but I think will be very evenly matched with HM this year. I think Hill has more scorers, but I give the edge on D and goaltending to WBL. I live in White Bear, graduated from Hill and haven't missed a White Bear/Hill game in more than ten years and I can't wait for this one. My prediction, Bears 4-3 in OT.

hillhockey, grun is definatly not the only player to rely on for the bears. they will other great scorers that can get the job done, besides wbl doesnt sccore many goals, their focus is to stop them. I see a one goal game either 3-2 or 4-3 in wbls favor. this game definatly wont be a blowout.
The curse lives on.....

I think a slight edge has to go to WB in this one. They may have the best player (Grun) and the better goalie (Faust) and have the experience of being the defending 3AA champs. But anyone who has followed this rivalry, realize all things can be set aside and these two will battle each other. I will say 4-2 WB with an open net. Winner will have the inside step to the covetted #1 seed. Hope I'm wrong...good luck Pioneers.

It is true and huge because that means The Empire can watch the game and provide his excellent analysis. He can also cheer for the Bears because they are good. They will probably let him down like they do all the time, at least when they are on TV.

Bears 4
Pioneers 2

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Is there a web link or something that I can look at to confirm that the wbl v.s. hill game is televised on fsn north? If so that would be great, because I can't make it this year and this means that I could just tivo it instead so I can still catch the game. I tried to google for it and I looked on the fsn website and came up empty handed. Any type of confirmation would be very appreciated.

Hill vs. White Bear

Post by Hill Alum » Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:49 pm

I just got back from the Hill vs. Wayzata game which was 8-1 Hill. I am going to say Hill wins the rivalry game by 4. 8-4. Hill's team is the strongest that I have seen in a while. The bears better come to play a fast paced game. If people are talking about a Grun vs. Hoeffel matchup....Hoeffel will show to be the better player, he dominated the ice tonight, and will on Tuesday also. I can see why the Goph's want this kid....

i was at the game too, and wayzata is not that good. Wayzata definatly made hm look amazing, and wayzata also had to many penalties. But 8-4? cmon its going to be a low scoring game, neither team will score more then 4 goals. Hoeffel dominated, you mean when he missed on two breakaways? lol how many goals did he end up with?
The curse lives on.....
Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Hill WBL

Post by brickwall33 » Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:59 pm

I expected Hill to put up some numbers against Wayzata. Wayzata had allowed 10 goals in their first two games to Maple Grove and Buffalo. Hill was expected to win and they did, simple as that. It's still very early, this was not as big of a game as it looked. Now they move on to White Bear, who no doubt will give them a better test. This is set up to be a another classic. I actually think that the scoring could be higher than expected... a 5-4, 6-5 game could happen in my opinion. The high scoring against Wayzata may have put freight into the Bears, they are wondering if this is as strong of a Hill squad as it looks right now. I can tell by the last post that WBLBears06 is a little worried too, maybe the team should be too. I guess we will have to wait until Tuesday to find out.
