red wings schedule

Post by hockey88 »

Honestly could Red Wing have scheduled any tougher this year??? As of their 1st 4 games they've played #4 Breck, #5 St. Thomas Academy, #6 Blake and #8 Lourdes and are undefeated. Anyone else think these guys might be the favorite to win state this year???

they play a tough schedule yes and they are a good team. STA is a bit better based on what I have seen. I'm not an STA fan either. I think STA has more scoring power but other than that, I think they are fairly equal.

it's pretty early in the season to be predicting state tournament winners. Injuries, consistency in play and competitiveness of schedule will determine who is makes the trip to the Excel.

Red wing plays that kind of schedule every year. For a while, they were part of the Edina tourney, with Edina, Elk river and one other team (can't remember). They lost all three games, but it did them more good than a win over some of the teams Northfield, Farmington and New Prague have scheduled in the past. From what I've seen, Farmington has upgraded their schedule a bit and so has New Prague the last couple years, but still nothing like Red Wing plays.

Certainly their schedule has been strong this year early on, but it is not really any tougher than most good programs go thru. Look at STA, Blake, etc. It obviously helps to make up for a weak Missota conf schedule (except AHA of course).

The fact that they have come thru the first four games 2-0-2 is acceptable, but considering their ranking - Number 3! - I'd say this is at least expected or possibly dissappointing.

RW has lots of supportive fans, but they shouldn't get too excited yet. I'll be interested in how they do against a very underrated Mahtomehdi team next week.

i would have to say that they have a hard schedule this year and as of what i have heard they havent lost yet and they have been playing some top ten teams but they still have to stay strong and not get over their heads.
