NO MORE TIES

What opinions do people have on the pro rule "no more ties" being brought into the highschool level. I love the idea, its so exciting to watch a shoot out. I cant hardly even imagine the goose bumps that you would get at those huge close games going eight rounds into the shootout, I think it would be huge for the sport. Also it would bring way more emotions into a game, and creat amazing mermories for any highschool player participating. Also what do you think the chances of this happening would be, Id put my money on slim to none, but its nice the hope. also this might make section seedings much easier *WILD HOCKEY FAN FOREVER* "Infamous - Having an exceedingly bad reputation; notorious"

There should be no ties in high school hockey. To watch a shoot out makes every fans day better. But yes very doubtful

HS Hockey isnt about whats best for the game or the fans, its all about the hs league and whats best for them. Experience tells me they're more interested in the revenue (unless its girls hockey) than anything else. I'm not sold on the idea of the pro's having shoot outs yet, maybe its not best for hs either.

Another question would be,...why do we still have 2 line passes when colleges and NHL have given them up...???

Ties should be settled by a fight club style brawl. Two men per fight, no shirt, no shoes, fight goes on as long as it takes, oh, and I'm not supposed to tell you about it. majin

I agree, tie's suck, there should be shootouts at the high school level. Nobody likes to walk away with a tie..

Dangle..........................unless you score with 1 second left in the third period, then play a scoreless OT...........I think one team feels like they won, while the other isn't happy. I think it's fine how it is, I think Shootouts are for skills competitions. Also, call me a teacher, but the kids do need to go to bed...............if we played until we had a winner, some folks might not like that, if the game ended at 1:00 AM.

I do agree that deciding who the better team is should not be decided by a shootout. The better hockey team who outplayed the other team the whole game may lose becasue the other team has a couple of studs who can play with the puck. I would much rather have a shootout rather than a tie however. Ideally i think it would be if they let the kids play maybe not until one of them scored since im sure some liberals would be all over that about child abuse or something, but at least let them play longer. Add a couple OT periods on to a game and see who wants it more.

Swisha Sweet you almost have the right idea. Shootouts should be outlawed because i have seen the better team loose as often as they win in them. I think the idea of playing a game is to see who the better team is at playing hockey not just on one aspect of hockey which rarely even fits into the game. I think that games should go into continuous overtime periods until a team finally scores. I think watching 5 overtimes is the most exciting a game could possibly get.

Steelers, why can't they just play 5-5? What happens if there is a penalty in 3-3 play in the 3rd overtime? Can players just hack away because you can't go below 3 players so there is no penalty for a penalty?

Here is my problem with it. I would't like a system that makes it impossible for the "lesser" team to win. I think the fact that some teams want it more than the other one should be something that plays into who wins a hockey game. Not based on pure talent. So to say that an underdog team who played their hearts out all game as a team can lose by having perhaps some of the best stick handlers in the state do something fancy to get it by a goalie doesn't do the game justice. I guess i agree, let the boys play till they win.

I hate it when the team who gets outplayed the whole game can win because of a hot goaltender or the other team having a trash goaltender.

Having a hot goaltender or a trash one is the point of a hockey game. Many teams have won games because they have goalie that just decided before the game that he wasn't going to let the puck go by him. That is the great thing about hockey any team can win on any night
