Roseau vs. Hibbing no longer televised on Sat.

Post by snipe14 »

I know this was in another post but just warning people who didn't see it. Roseau vs. Hibbing will no longer be televised due to the game being at 2 in the afternoon. FSN thought it was 7:30 and it takes 6 hours for them to set up their equipment so it won't be enough time. But i heard maybe Moorhead vs East might be televised in place.....?

why do you say that? have you ever seen a game that was televised from the memorial? i doubt it... i'm guessing a lot of people who've never been to roseau would've loved the chance to see a game played in that arena. It's a throwback to the old days of northern minnesota hockey that the city folk probably would enjoy.
Play another sport if ya dont got what it takes to DangleMcFangle.

videoscout has never had a problem filming in roseau memorial. i'm sure fox scouted the rink and said "this isn't a good rink to film a hockey game in. too close to the ice sheet!"

DE/Moorhead will produce a stronger HH number in the Twin Cities than the Hibbing/Roseau game. It will generate a bigger veiwership statewide and in turn generate more advertising revenue. It is always about money.

slappy, i didn't realize you had that much influence over fox sports. you must have convinced them that the moorhead game would be much more worthwhile.

I find this hard to believe! If the scheduled game time has something to do with FSN not covering this game then Roseau needs to take a serious look at either the scheduler for the arena or perhaps the athletic director. Any chance to get coverage like FSN to come to Roseau and broadcast the game COULD be a one time chance.

If the schedulers that be for the arenas in Roseau weren't able to schedule around a SQUIRT B tournament then there is something wrong. Oh well. That just summed up what's wrong in Roseau.

i think....

Post by snipe14 »

I am not sure, but I think it had to do something with Hibbing did not want to be heading back home at 11pm in bad weather and did not want to stay another night.(they play warroad the night before) I am not sure but that is the only logical answer I can come up with.

That is true too. Roseau wanted it changed but Hibbing said no. The game was orginally scheduled at 2 and than they wanted to change it for FSN to 7. Hibbing said no so therefore the game will be played at 2. FSN doesnt have enough time supposively to set up or they just didnt want to do the game. It should be a very good game though.

I think time is an issue with a 2 o'clock start. The FSN crew is arriving in Grand Rapids at 9 AM tomorrow to start setting up.

_________________

BOB

I don't think it's because of the gametime that the hibbing/roseau game isn't being televised, because the Moorhead/DE game is at the exact same time (2:00 pm). It's like wiping before you poop, it don't make sense

roseau is like 3 and a half hrs north of moorhead. that would be 3 and half more hrs to set up......
Play another sport if ya dont got what it takes to DangleMcFangle.

But to drive from Grand Rapids to Roseau take a lot more time then it does to drive from Grand Rapids to Duluth, they just wouldn't have enough time to set up all the equipment thats why it was changed

So what happens if the crew just decides to leave 3 and a half hours earlier?

Well lets see here.....they are gonna be getting into rapids at 9 AM for a 7:30 PM game. A 2:00 game in Roseau where they would need to drive 3.5 hours just to get there in the first place. Well they would probably need to start setting up at about 4 AM in Roseau....do the math mnhshockey89.

Earlier someone posted they needed 6 hours to set up. And the point is if they can tape a game in moorhead at 2:00 then why can't they tape a game in Rosea at 2:00?

To answer my own question i think it must be because they think they will get more viewers and more money for the moorhead game.
