NHL Central Scouting Minnesota HS Player Rankings 12/13

Post by Froomcat » Mon Dec 19, 2005 12:12 am

NHL Central Scouting Updated their pre-season players to watch list the other day. I have access and I navigated around and wanted to publish the Minnesota High School kids they are watching. These are only players playing HS hockey currently: THe National Development Program, USHL, and Jr. B lists also include MN players.

A Players are potential 1st-3rd round Draft Picks
B Players are potential 4th round and Lower Picks

A Skaters
David Fischer Apple Valley 6-3, 185 D
Michael Forney TRF 6-2, 185 C
David Grun WBL 6-1, 185 RW
Aaron Marvin Warroad 6-2, 191 LW
Tyler Pedersen St. Louis Pk 6-4, 208 D
Kyle Medvec Apple Valley 6-5, 191 D
Carl Sneep Brainerd 6-4, 210 D

B Skaters
Andy Sackrison St. Louis PK 6-2, 190 C
Tyler Ruegsegger Shattuck C
Derrick Lapoint Eau Claire North LW
Brent Gwidt Lakeland HS C
Jeremy Beller Lake of Woods LW
Brian Downey Duluth East D
Jordan Fulton Breck C
Andy Indereiden Breck RW
Brett Peterson Elk River LW
Austin Lee (Goalie) Bloomington Jeff G

I listed the only two Wisconsin HS players in the list as well.

Forgot to pull the B players size data.

2 from Apple Valley,
2 from Breck
2 from St. Louis Park

It is the same list has been out since early November. The revision from a week ago doesn't have anything new on MN HS players

No, its an updated list in the sense that NHL central added the two Wisconsin kids and I could be wrong but I don't think Downey, David Grun, and the SHattuck kid were on the original list.

Anyone know what some of these kids are going to play next year? I know Indereiden looked good and Pedersen has a lot of skill. What about Sneep, Medvec, and Brett Peterson?

Feel free to post updates. They will have the mid-season analysis out in January and I will try to go in and get some more information.

What kind of season is derrick having? Does anyone know where he is going to college? I worked with Derrick over the summer at hockey camp and he has tons of talent. I bet he will end up at UND.

I heard this list is not really inclusive of all kids that will go in the draft. I have spoken with someone that has knowledge of a few players that will go somewhere after the 3rd round. I was told that many teams dont like to let everyone know who they're interested in. I think my source is good, I wont say who I was told might be included in case what I've heard is BS. Does anyone know of players in the past that were not on the list and were drafted?

GandyDancer,

Are you serious about Meyers? He's a nice player, don't get me wrong - but we all know what the pro scouts are looking for. They draft based on potential and size (and not necessarily in that order). Meyers is what? 5'8" and 160 lbs?

From your posts you seem to be a farily astute hockey guy. I think we'd both agree that Meyers will make a nice college player - maybe even a nice pro some day. He's just not going to get drafted.

fast eddie. thank you for the compliment. can you read between the lines (pipes)? the magic potent for adding inches and lbs. hasn't hit the market yet. daddy is working on it.

I would have been drafted but I twisted the right pinky toe my senior year and had nothing but problems after that. Multiple surgeries keep me out and ruined my life
*WILD HOCKEY FAN FOREVER*
"Infamous - Having an exceedingly bad reputation; notorious"

Size is definitely the one thing that those players have in common. I think we'll start to see more smaller players in the NHL with the new rules and stricter enforcement of the already existing rules. Actually, the rule changes/emphasis at all levels will accommodate skill and not size...in my humble opinion.

gferhock1,

The CSB is an independent scouting organization and is meant to help the entire league. In this day and age, the possibility of "hiding" a prospect from the rest of the league is remote at best.

Sorry, Gandy - I was a little slow on the uptake earlier today. Not enough caffeine in the diet, apparently. I thought your post was a little odd, that's why I threw out the reply. Hopefully the magic of modern chemistry can someday help the young man.
