Thrid Period

Post by MediaGuide »

The problems that the third period in this game caused for Jefferson were caused by basically a couple of things in my view:

1. The undisciplined play of a few players who just let up on the work ethic and started playing like Bantams, and cost their team.

2. Not the sharpest of coaching jobs by the Jags on the offensive side, to put it kindly, with face-offs lost that directly contributed to two Rosemount goals (when it could've been avoided) being the most glaring examples.

People in the limelight subject themselves to critisism. It's part of the package. Most often made by those who would not/could not trade places.

Cuda - I appreciate your response, and I felt I worded my post as gently as I could. I played for Jefferson and played beyond, logging many hours as a coach - only saying that to point out that I don't write those things lightly. Lindquist does far more that is positive and correct than he does the opposite, but I'll say what needs to be said. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

I'm not currently in the cities; however, I know many coaches and players from several towns. I've seen their HARD work, strategizing, endless hours, common sense, lack of family time, insight and KNOWLEGE of the game. I disagree and that is your opinion. I just have seen in my time the most critical (sideline quarterbacks, so to speak) are the least likely to have the ability to do the job.

My guess is that I would hear a much different opinion from the majority.

Rosemount beat Jefferson back in 94 or 95 under Eigner and I believe they've tied them once along the way. They've had many close games, a few OTs and many blowouts. I hate to admit it but BJ has definitely dominated the Irish since the beginning of time.

Media-Jeff vs. Rosemount

I was a center for 14 years. Not once could you blame my coach for my lack of effort in a blowout game, or myself losing face offs to change the difference in the score. If you wanna blame somebody or criticize, blame the players. A coach can sit there and scheme up every perfect strategy for face offs, and scream at his players when the effort isn't there, but that doesn't mean he will get it. Just because you are a good team doesn't mean you will always get 3 good periods of effort. It's part of the game. Look at all the great coaches and their teams don't give the same effort all the time. Does that mean the coach should take the blame? Are you going to blame Jacque Lemaire because Rolston or somebody loses a key face off or misses his back check? The best teams in the world have bad periods. So let's blame their coach because their kid lost a face off or isn't giving the same effort. C'mon man. I wouldn't blame my coach because I lost a face off. Neither should anybody else. You being a player should know that. This isn't Squirt hockey.

Ok so we'll put you out there in a 5-1 game, you lose the face off, and they score. Is your coach the guy to blame because he put you out there or didn't emphasize to you to tie your guy up?

I give rosemount credit for not giving up.

I mean a 5-1 difference can really get at a team and for the old rosemount team they would have started to get a little "chippy" and start takeing penaltys. Overall i think it was a well played game for both ends.

Ah man, I miss Lindquist's class. I was in his Geography class and then I moved to Centennial. He's a pretty nice and funny guy.
Wuk Winn

<img src="http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/6633 ...
Go Jefferson Jaguars!
Go Austin Lee!
