Is Shakopee for Real?

Post by hocplaya22 »

Shakopee is 8-0-1 and has the three leading scoreres in the state. Last night they beat Rochester Lourdes 4-3 without one of their top players Jason Rein who is out with a shoulder injury. I think Shakopee has a great chance to return to state, also last night there were some scouts in the stands watching the top players from both teams. Let me know what you all think.

I went to that game last night. I thought Rochester dominated them. Shakopee only has one line really. They played two lines the entire game, and you could really tell by the third period. Rochester must have outshot them in the third period like 25-3 or something. The Rochester goalie did not play well at all. Someone tell me the shots of that game. I would be interested to see what they were. I thought that Rochester really dominated the entire game. Except for the scoreboard. In the third period Rochester was short handed and they still dominated them. If Shakopee is going to go anywhere they need to get that third line playing more. They will not be able to make it far in the playoffs with only two lines.

Shakopee

Definately for real. I've had them in top ten for a week or two, this should remove or at least give pause to those doubters out there. Certainly can make a case for the best A team in southern Minnesota and that includes STA and Blake.

Shots

Post by hocplaya22 »

Shakopee outshot lourdes 40-32. by the shots I would say shakopee dominated in some point of the game. Lourdes draws some of the best players from the rochester area and still lost to shakopee. I beleive shakopee is a good team and we will see there sucess at the end of the season.

Shakopee vs Lourdes

Post by One Smooth Operator »

Was not able to get to this game but who stood out? Who was in net for both teams?

could be for real

Post by jackfrost05 »

Just because Shakopee beat the Lourdes doesnt mean that they are one of the best teams in single A. Albert Lea who lost nine seniors last year beat the Lourdes this year five to three coming into the game with a record of 2 and 3. Maybe in time to come but they still have to prove themselves some more in my book.

Stand Out

Post by hocplaya22 »

For Shakopee Kaufenberg was in the net and played great. For Shakopee Huth and Weinzral really stood out. The top two line for shakopee are outstanding and i think with the power these two lines bring it will carry shakopee along ways.

One Smooth Operator,

I am not sure of the names of the two goalies. They were both little guys. Neither one of them were great. The Shakopee goallie made alot of nice saves, but looked a little shaky doing it. I saw in a previous post that you are from Red Wing. Red WIng is a much better team than Shakopee. They only had one line. The Rochester goalie was not very good at all. I am not sure if he is the main goalie or not but he struggled. Also I am not sure where the other guy put that Shakopee outshot Rochester. Like I said before Rochester really dominated, just could not score. I am sure that Rochester must have had 25 shots just in the third period. And I did not think that Shakopee even had five in that period. They were so tired from only playing two lines.

Just my opinion of the game.

I have to give Shakopee credit they did hold Rochester off in the third while they were getting dominated.

Shakopee

Post by hocplaya22 »

If I remeber correctly, Red Wing only beat Lourdes 1-0. I think shakopee will give Red Wing or anyone in the conference except for Holy Angels a running for second place. Only time will tell. Also I think it is obvious that you can win with two lines. Shakopee is 8-0-1 playing only two lines and they have the top scoring line in the state for now. The baribal, Matson, Hurley line might be the best line the state has ever seen.

It hurts but Red Wing and Lourdes tied earlier in the year 2-2 but it was a good game. I'm curious who if anyone stood out for Lourdes in the Shakopee game last night?

Shakopee Scouts

Post by hocplaya22 »

Mankato State was at the game last night. Tri City was there and so was Wichita Falls. Shakopee's program is really progressing. coach Loiselle and haglund really know how to get these kids motivated and play big games. Like I say time after time. Shakopee is improving and are a good team in class A. there are not at elite status as of yet but they can get there. Jason Rein the state's leading scorer has tons of teams drolling over him. He is big fast and strong and he has proven that he is a goal scorer. I will almost guarentee if he keeps working hard you will see him on a D-1 team.

Scouting

Post by hocplaya22 »

Lars,

shakopee plays Holy Angels, Red Wing and anyone else in the missota. Rein is 6-2 225 lbs. Last season he weighed 245-250. He worked hard this summer and his numbers show it. 18 goal 11 assists for 29 points. He has 5 hat tricks this year. Wouldn't you say thats impressive. also huth and simon are very good players. Huth has great hand and is a Sniper, could be a little faster. Simon is big and fast, but needs to make smarter playe.

Those are impressive numbers. But lets just wait until they meet some of those quality teams before getting to excited. I will give you the fact that he (or you) must be pretty good, but look at the total combined record of the teams you ahve played. I couldn't get exact numbers, but it is like 10-25-2

I will get excited for you in January if they are still racking up the wins
I will even buy you a hotdog at the X in March if they go this year

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... wkfan70 at: 12/21/05 1:17 pm

Rein scored a trick against Orono and I know alot of people are high on Orono. He can do it against anyone. They tried to contain him and he unleashed his thunder and showed why he is one of the top players in Class A. I know people say this and that about records of the teamd they are playing. You still have to be an elite player to put up the numbers those three have done. thats fine if no one wants to give shako credit, but those numbers are impressive no matter who you play. Orono lost to warroad 1-0 and many thought warroad would win Class A. I would say that they can compete with some of the Top class a teams. Sure if they played in the lake or classic in AA they would not be as good. But relax they are still in A and are great for an A team.

I'm sure they have a good team and I like all the success that Rein & company are having, and I don't like people who tear down good things.

But I also don't like too much rubeness either, don't go the way of the Schroeder heads who mouth off so much that it actually hurts the kid. The cream rises to the top, allow it to do so.

All this scoring is great, but keep in mind that if you take out the stats LeSueur's and Lourdes' goalies (I can't find stats for them, and they may be a wash anyway, one good and one bad - the stats, not the kids), Shakopee's big guns have fed on goalies with an average GAA of 5.78, with the best goalie at 3.0 and the opposite coming in at 13.08. Those GAA's are symptomatic of many things, not just the goalies.

Its similar to the Holy Angels kids feasting against alot of teams that can't even get 6 shots off in a game, yet when they play Elite they are basically in the same boat of the other good players who don't have the same table set in the HS season.

Be proud of your kids, but stay humble and realistic. Enjoy the success, but be realistic.

Who had the goals for both teams?

I understand that the first line for Shakopee is very good even minus Rein. Anyone around MN HS hockey who has not heard his name is not around MN HS hockey. He is a very good player.

Again, who stood out for Lourdes? Maybe no one?

I understand that their goalie didn't have a good game. Did that impact the outcome of the game?

Huth has two, Weinzeral had one and Bloom had the other. Remember Rein the State's leading scorer is out with a shoulder injury.

Why would anyone come on here and talk about themselves so much. "states leading scorer" Rein is out.

blah blah blah blah!!!!!!!!!!

YES WE ALL KNOW NOW THAT REIN (you) ARE THE STATE'S LEADING SCORER. Leave it alone. Talk about it after you play RedWing and Holy Angels twice. That is four losses right there. We'll see how many points you have in those four games.

I would be willing to bet that you don't get more than 2 points in the four games combined.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... liveau4 at: 12/21/05 2:40 pm

Shakopee

Post by mathrunner »

I could be wrong, which I'm not, but Shakopee hasn't played anyone good yet that they've beat. Orono is doing all right, and they managed a tie. In response to the one player being hurt, that's why it's called a team, a team isn't one player, it's the whole team, one being hurt is no excuse. And if they happen to make it out of section 6A and into state, they'll lose first round to STA or Red Wing, then get owned by either Hibbing or Warroad, whoever loses of the two. So, while they may be able to score a lot against teams that aren't good, they won't be able to cut it when it counts. This is also why they aren't even ranked.
