Canzanello

Post by RGGspartan » Mon Dec 12, 2005 10:48 pm

Canzanello is one of the best to come out of rochester in a long time. He is very fast, very crafty, offensive minded and strong. I would put him in the top 3 or 4 players in the state. I would pick him for best D in mn for sure right now.

Too many people relying on points scored here to gauge top players. Top players are made over the course of several years of consistent performance at various upper levels - MSHSL, Elite, Selects, etc. They do far more than scoring, and have certain tools that will make them impact players at the USHSL and D1 levels.

Another "Schroeder" of the past

Post by IJasonI » Mon Dec 12, 2005 11:32 pm

In Peewees, Casey Parenteau set a minnesota record for points I believe. He was considered the best player at his age. I believe he played 2 years of bantams and continued to dominate. He then played a year at Breck as a sophomore and had a very good year.

Then he moved onto the "higher level"...the USHL. He ended up playing 1 year, getting cut, and then playing for the second semester at White Bear during his senior year. He ended up playing at D3 St. Johns for a year and now he is back in the USHL.

Everyone was really excited about this kid and thought he was going to be a good D1 player for sure as he was growing up. I am not necessarily saying Schroeder will end up the same, but he has not proven himself to be a top 10 player in the state yet and the fact is, we really don't know what he will end up doing.

And don't whine about him being "shadowed" all the time and using that as an excuse for a lack of production so far this season. Good players find a way to produce...example: Matt Ambroz. He was on a horrible New Prague team and still produced, that is why he was considered such a good player. My best guess would be that by his junior or senior year, or maybe even next year, he will be considered a top 10 player. But not yet. People keep citing his state tourney last year, that means nothing now.

Borer

Post by PAMESH » Tue Dec 13, 2005 8:50 am

Patrick Borer grew up at Armstrong. Played Wis fire his first year of Bantams and was a 1st or second line center. He is now playing varsity at BSM. He made the team as a Defenseman and is now playing forward. He was switched after one of the players was suspended for curfew violations. He played very well so now the coach wants to keep him there. He also played in the Elite II league in the fall for District 6 as a Defensemen and has played on the 90 Lightning since it started. He is small (same size as Schroeder only thicker 5'6" 160lbs).

I know for a fact that he was not a first line center on Wis Fire. From what i have heard he was on the third line for that team. But enough about some bad freshmen hockey player, this is supposed to be about the top ten in the state.

JS

The only reason JS would break the scoring record is because he plays in single A and the teams they play are awful.

STA's schedule is far from cupcake. The awful-good ratio is no different to the AHAs or Hills.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... eeAGENT at: 12/30/05 8:25 pm

Number 21 from SLP is very good, to say the least.

_________________

BOB
