I'm not condoning cheap shots but you must remember there are stupid people that play this VIOLENT game. Players will get hurt from clean and dirty hits. If you want to whine go play with the Ballerinas.

The only reason anyone would shadow Pepper is if he he owed someone money. Pepper is a good kid but no where near STA's best player. I didn't see the game or the hit he took, but I'm not surprised he got injured. One of the reason he wasn't thought of too highly at Hill was because he often acted like a "drama queen" whenever he got hit. Look back the football. Against Mahtomedi he gets hit and carried off the field. All the attention is on Pepper. Then a miracle happened and Pepper is cured...and returns to the game. Pahlease! He made the right move running away from Hill as he would have never been a factor on this years team.

Dirty hit my eye. There were no dirty hits on either side in that game. I believe sour grapes is the term.

Violent Sport...Yes

Post by Renegade Ram » Fri Dec 30, 2005 11:04 pm

Hey Cuda...Hockey has been called a Blood Sport for decades to be classified a blood sport it must be violent. Happen to see Henry laying in his own pool of blood compliments of Dave Forbes by order of Don Cherry. Remember a guy by the name of Bertuzzi? or Bill Masterson?

How many times you see Basketball or Baseball players getting a shoulder put back in on the bench or getting stitch up after a nasty gash and playing the next shift. Criminy sakes a hang nail will sideline a pitcher for a week.

What other sport can two guys engage in fisticuffs knocking the snot out of each other and sit for five minutes and get to play again. When on the street they'd spend the night in the can.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... m>Renegade Ram at: 12/30/05 11:09 pm

You're a one in a million, Ram! A little exaggeration and drama - like every player plays dirty every game.
Bertuzzi is being treated as he deserves to this day too.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... cuda701 at: 12/31/05 8:22 am

Who said every player plays dirty every game. Oh you did must have been the way you were taught to play. We were taught to skate and pass but; we also were taught the tricks of the trade.

Well, you are making a little more sense in your posts. Tricks of the trade (whatever you are referring to?) is one thing - cheap shots are another.

Here's a trick

Post by Renegade Ram » Sat Dec 31, 2005 11:26 am

If your a defensemen going in the corner to retrieve the puck and the opponents have been blasting you from behind (this was in the pre-CFB days)...to give yourself some more time you watch in the glass and the guys bearing down on you; place your stick blade solid perpendicular to the board and slide your hand up the shaft about three inches when he runs into that I guarantee you'll get an extra second or two next time. That comes straight from a '76 Olympian. Slightly nasty but it works GOOD.

Two posts mention an that goon NHL'er and LloydGermanShaver takes offense. Add a useful trick instead of stirring the pot. BTW how's the kid the thread started with still hurt or did he pop up and play the next shift. Next thing we'll hear is that Schroeder's the best player in Minnesota.
