Win A great game, wow………….. 1—0 after one for Elk River, 2—0 after two for Elk River. 2 –2 after 3 and we had overtime. Both goalies played very well. Wichello was in goal for Brainerd and he really played well. The Warriors really handled the 3rd period very well and shutdown Elk River all together in the 3rd. At the end of OT it was still tied. Now we have a shootout. Elk River went first and Kerr went first he did not score as Wichello blocked the shot. Ollie Lahdesmaki went next for Brainerd he did not score. Brent Peterson next for Elk River and Wichello blocked it again. Carl Sneep next for Brainerd was blocked. Than Malzon for Elk River scored for them. Mike Baker up for Brainerd and he did not score. So next is Cloud for ER and he is blocked. Than Pete Larson is up for Brainerd, he scores for Brainerd. Slavik is up for ER and he is blocked. Now Morgan Impola is up for Brainerd and he is blocked. So now it is Fots is up for ER and he is blocked. Now Joe Frazier for Brainerd and he is blocked. So now is ER is Kohler and he is blocked. Than Jared Hoppe and he is blocked. So now is Yeado for ER and he is blocked. So now is Jake Johnson and he is blocked. So now is Martel for ER and he is blocked. So now is Ryan Peltoma and he scored and Brainerd Wins. Elliot 90 or 91. Blaise was coach for the Rams, Chuck Wahlen, effineah Ernie and Rob Grillo for Brainerd. The kicker of this, Brainerd had two players playing for Richfield that year. One was given the boot and the other might have moved. That was the Richfield team that Darby Hendrickson played for that made it to state.

They fell fast then. In 94 GR beat them 14-0. Kinda creates a line graphic, for everone but bluesbuddy.

The thing with Brainerd that I don't like is they haven't had a good fan following. Two seasons ago on semi-final day at the DECC, I would say East, CEC, and Rapids all had between 1000-1500 fans. Brainerd shows up with about 300, and that might be pushing it. It kinda kills the atmosphere. Hopefully this season barnyard will bring more fans to the semi-finals if they get there, which looks likely. If it's GR, CEC, East, and ER in the semi's, the DECC might be close to sold out for the semi's this year with section 7 teams having such high rankings. Maybe if Brainerd is there it will happen, but warrior fans have vast improvement to do to make it possible to get the DECC close to sold out. And, come on, there's more incentive, on the way to Brainerd stop at my grandpa's restaurant, the Fireside Inn, in McGregor. hey GR19, did you ever think of the fan turnout as if maybe that GR, CEC and EAST are so much more closer than Brainerd??? .. maybe you should think a little bit about that first

Distance doesn't matter to hockey fans in the playoffs. Grand Rapids is a 1 hour 15 minute drive to Duluth. Brainerd is 2 hours, correct? I could see it if Brainerd was 4 hours away, but when it's the section semi's, I mean that's the show, if you don't show up for that you're not even a hockey fan at all. Think about how far Elk River is from Duluth, and last time they were in the semi's at the DECC they had a stron showing. What's more is Brainerd has a very good team this year.
