Wear your seatbelts!!!!!

I know this is off topic a bit but, I had the tragic experience this morning of seeing two vehicles spin out and a body flying out of one of those vehicles after it hit a rock wall at the base of the mountain. Thankfully, the teenage girl that was thrown from the explorer only had pain in her ribs. You don't know the feeling I had when I looked up after parking and saw her body underneath the bumper of the other truck. She'll be okay. So, a urgent reminder especially this time of year when there is a lot of black ice to wear your seatbelt!

When I parked her body was motionless under the bumper of the truck, I was sure it was a dead body. Needless to say I'm kinda shook up today. She only had some scratches on her hand and her pants were muddy from the road. She wasn't even crying. Just in shock, but pretty amazing she was basically in very good condition after that. It's a dangerous highway, one side is a rock wall at the base of the mountain, the other side of the road is an ocean inlet.

New Seward highway about 10 miles south of Anchorage. I guess that is what was considered the "Seward Highway" before they made the new one in Anchorage. It's the stretch of highway that goes along Turnagain arm from Anchorage down to Girdwood and continuing to Seward. Had I pulled out of our driveway in Bird Creek 5 seconds earlier I probably would have hit 1 or both cars head on. I came around a corner and in the distance I saw both fishtailing and spinning down the highway.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... hs>GR19 at: 1/2/06 5:09 pm

That's not me. I was just showing what was behind him in the background. Besides, I'm far more handsome. The ktuu.com article had 2 pictures from the accident I was at, those two, so I guess I chose those. What is ironic is a far worse accident happend right by our log home project that I had just left. Truck going 90 mph and passing, lost control, flipped on top of an on coming car and killed the 2 innocent people in the car. The guy in the truck should spend the rest of his life in jail.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... hs>GR19 at: 1/3/06 12:30 am

Actually, if you see the red ford truck with the white plow behind the cop car facing the camera, that was me.
