HockeyPuck, do you have the game on the radio? If so, could you give us more of a game desciption?

_________________

BOB

Yeah, I do. From what I'm hearing, Whichello seems to be playing like theres no tommorrow. The 3rd period just ended, but from the sounds of it, Brainerd had trouble breaking the puck out. The announcer just said Cloquet had 37 shots on net, Whichello with 34 saves. They didn't say Brainerds shots. So from the sounds of it, Cloquet dominated the 3rd period.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Puck219 at: 1/2/06 9:17 pm

Just a reminder, these two teams meet again in Cloquet in 3 or 4 weeks. Not sure when, but they do play again in Cloh-kay.

That really makes sense if you look at everyone's 7AA games so far.

Boy, sounds like Brainerds goalie is playing unbelievable. From the sounds of it, Cloquet had 3-4 great scoring chances on the power-play, but Whichello is playing great. Penalty called against Johnson from Cloquet for checking from behind with 3 min left. Cloquets first penalty of the game.

if you go 6-0 in the section and the next best team has 2 losses, or one loss and a tie, you will be number one, even tho the coaches vote. if you are the only unbeaten and you have played everyone that matters, then the coaches will vote you at one.

_________________

BOB

Brainerd has a great scoring chance at the end of game, but can't finish. Game ends tied 3-3.

It sure tightens things up.

If GR can win they should have it, but I still think back to GR losing to Virginia. And East beating Moorhead.

But - lots of hockey left.

I think Grand Rapids will end 5-0-1 in section 7AA play...
If you go strictly by records, which you don't, here is how it would look. (food for thought)
1. St. Francis
2. Grand Rapids
3. Forest Lake
4. Cloquet
5. Elk River
6. Andover
7. Brainerd
8. Cambridge
9. Duluth East

That would mean East @ Cambridge...winner @ st. Other than being on the road, I don't think East would have a problem with that.

Brainerd Warriors

Post by Warrior Fan Number 1 » Mon Jan 02, 2006 10:00 pm

Warriors come out with a TIE

NO it was not a wind for our Warriors but it was a battle. And both teams went home tired and I am sure sore. It was a very physical game with both teams checking very hard.
The first period was slow and sluggish for Brainerd, and they had two penalty’s in which they gave up goals. It was 2—0 at the end of one.
The Second period Brainerd was ready to play and they did just that, They put a lot of heat on Cloquet’s goalie and it paid off. At the end of two it was tied at two. Brainerd had a break away by Pete Larson and also a nice goal by Bronson Shepherd.

The 3rd period was even more physical. They both played their hearts out on the ice. Wichello was a phenom in goal tonight for the Warriors as he stopped a lot of shots by Cloquet.
In the 3rd period Cloquet scored first and than we answered with another goal this one by Mike Baker.
So at the end of 3 it was tied at 3 –3 .
Overtime saw a lot of opportunities for both teams but no one could get it in the net. So we ended in a tie.

The shots on goal favored Cloquet 47-26. So like I said Whichello did a great job. Many of the shots were right in front of the net.
If it were not for his great playing in the net it could have easily been a blow out for Cloquet, so KUDOS to Nick tonight in the net. As he would definitely be the player of the game for Brainerd.

Peace

A Warrior Fan
