I took a look at the demographics for the H/M varsity team (missing one kid).

Here is where they are all from:

2-Shoreview
1-North Oaks ---- these 3 would have attended Moundsview
-----------------------------------
3 Maplewood
4-Woodbury -- 2 of the captains are from Woodbury
1-Coon Rapids
3-Stillwater
2-Lake Elmo - is Lake Elmo in Stillwater or Mahtomedi?
-----------------------------------
1-Gem Lake
1-Vadnais Heights
1-White Bear Lake ----these 3 would have attended WBL

No other comment, I just found this interesting.

Not all kids that live in Maplewood would play for North St. Paul, some would also play for Tartan. (Depending on the location of their residence in the City of Maplewood.)

5 Stillwater/Lake Elmo kids

Another correction... (maybe)

These five players (again depending on their residence location) could choose where they would want to go to High School. The reason why is because they may live in the "Gray Zone." They could go to North, Tartan, Stillwater, White Bear, etc.

Other than the Coon Rapids, Hill's roster looks like it should. The kids appear to be coming from the general area. Where else would they get their kids?? Of course the public schools in the area lose out.

Not that it would mean anything in particular, but I would be curious as to how many kids at a private high school arrive there via a private elementary school. I know back in the day, Hill was made up of mostly kids from the various parochial elementary schools in & around the eastside of St. Paul. I suspect this might have changed...not sure. That would definately deminish the "recruitment" angle and those types of kids.

Private Elementary School

After they complete the 8th grade, they could virtually go to any High School they want. I don't know why but private elementary kids have this luxury. Maybe someone could answer the question: Why they are able to choose?

Not real sure what you are referring to when you say "luxury"? Open enrollment allows any child to attend any high school of their choosing. This is not a private school issue. Hill Murray isually ends up with the kids who attended parochial elementary schools in the geographical proximinity of the school (likewise for Cretin...Totino...ect). Obviously there are exceptions to this. I would just be curious as to the make up of today's students that went to a parochial elementary school prior to comming to their parochial high school.

I used luxury because not all kids can choose what High School they want to go. It wasn't the best word to use, but it's what came to mind.

As for your curiosity about today's students that went to a parochial elementary prior to coming to a parochial high school, it is most likely the students came from a parochial elementary but there are some that went to public before. So there are higher numbers of private to private than public to private.
