He's always been a screamer. I know GR beat ER, and right now Duluth East doesn't look scary at all.

Duluth East is so inconsistent that I am bothered by it. I hate East, and it gets to me...

_________________

BOB

After seeing this game, here is how I predict final 7AA seedings...again, just mine...
1. Grand Rapids
2. Brainerd
3. Cloquet
4. Elk River
5. Duluth East
6. Forest Lake
7. Cambridge
8. St. Francis
9. Andover

Andover @ Grand Rapids
Cambridge @ Brainerd
Forest Lake @ Cloquet
Duluth East @ Elk River

That makes me think that an Elk River-Grand Rapids Semi final and then a Brainerd-Cloquet...No EAST at the DECC...could be exciting.

_________________

BOB

When was the last time East was seeded that low? And had to play an away game?

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Yeah...that is exactly what I was thinking. Just think about a semi-final at the DECC with no East...just amazing.

_________________

BOB

Quote:
When was the last time East was seeded that low? And had to play an away game?

It was prior to 1994. Looking back over their records, it may be as far back as 1984 as they were 12-6-2 and then lost to Cloquet in their first game. If not then, you might have to go back to the 1960's to find a year where they were on the road in their quarterfinal game.

The last time East lost a quarterfinal game was in 1993 when a lower seeded Virginia team defeated them 5-3.

As for tonight, their defense was exposed (again). It's their weak link...no surprise there. Ben needs a ton more help than he's been getting. Look no further than the SOG totals they've been giving up. I don't remember a Hounds netminder in the past seeing as much rubber as he's been facing so far this season. Nice for him to get the experience under fire, but I'd obviously prefer some games where they held their opponent to under 20 shots.

Some forget that this is a young team. Tonight was a step back, as anyone could see, but they'll get better. Or I'm going to need a new keyboard pretty soon from "striking down upon it with great vengeance and furious anger".

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

The East dmen just played around with the puck too much...they don't push it up and out of the zone...they dink arond with it WAY too much in their own end.

_________________

BOB
