Do I Need to Pull the Car Over?

Post by MediaGuide »

Get a grip guys, you both have valid points mixed in with some wierd stuff, fun to read anyway until about now. Anyway, shutout is right to say BJ has a clear goalie advantage, but this game is in GR19's house - but its all on paper so who knows, right?

I'm still going 5-3 BJ. Good to see Olson got his first goal last night, but it didn't appear to light a fire under him so oh well. May the ghosts of BJ past guide O'Donnell to his first goal in GR, he's the kind of kid who will get lit by it and I'd like to see him come along.

If BJ has their skates going, it'll be lights out. Sorry, GR19.

GR19, Rule 62 needs to be in effect here. For those not familiar, it's a story which harkens back to old time AA, when the various groups were asked to come up with a list of certain rules. By the time they were done, their list made the list of rules on this here Board look like a day at the beach.

After some consideration, one wise individual came up with one rule, but he named it after the first 61 rules these draconian folks had come up with. Rule 62 read, very simply, "don't take yourself so damned seriously".

Now, can the thread get back on track?

fwiw, Jags by two or three.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

JLS81:

Good to hear from you bud!

You know I have always spoke highly of your Hawks. Couldn't resist putting on the gloves against GR19. He is like the Zamman of the north for me, I see why you cringe when he spouts off and pretends that he represents the fine fans from Rapids.

I look forward to seeing if the Jags can shut down Whites line with their second line and go to town with their line of Labombard, Levine, and Dupont against Rapids second line. I think I have stated my case at the goaltending advantage for the Jags, but as always we are dealing with High school kids and anything can happen.

Lets compare notes after the battle on Saturday!

C'mon a prediction of 4-1 isn't exactly insulting!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... shutout at: 1/6/06 5:48 pm

After going through the thread I really don't see anything where "I" was out of line. I respectfully disagreed. shutout was out of bounds twice, calling me a "moron" for a having a different opinion, and another post that revealed the gutter his mind was in which was promptly deleted by the admin.

GR19:

Let's let the boys settle our dispute!

The main issue I think we have is that I think that Lee's experience ( 2 years varsity, Elite League, State tournament, Princeton Scholarship) far outweigh Jensens 8 games of Varsity experience.

The game will be decided on the ice at the infamous Grand Rapids Ice Arena. Rapids is an underdog in this, no doubt. You aren't necessarily wrong in the goalie opinion, but you might be surprised how good Jensen is then. Ellingson for CEC played elite (I think), and I know he played for USA with Patrick White last summer. And Ellingson is behind Jensen in save % (Just an example). Bottom line, what's on paper doesn't matter, both goalies will make it difficult tomorrow.

gonna have to go Grand Rapids 4-1, the boys up north should teach the jags a thing or two, and i think the jags are a little overrated this year. gonna be a physical game, and i dont think austin lee is as good as people say!

120 miles - should take 1 hr and 45 minutes, from opening the pickup door to closing the pickup door (make that the Expedition).
So add a little extra for walking out of the arena and into the arena. Throw in a couple of more minutes for buying a coke on the way out and another couple for buying a hot dog on the way in.

Obviously, I'm a biased Jefferson fan but I think if the Jags can figure out how to get the puck in the net more often than 2 goals per game, they can win by more than 1 goal. They've had some trouble scoring all year, but I think with a strong goalie and pretty solid defense, the Jags can pull this one off.

Prediction: 4-2 Jaguars.

How do Jefferson Defense and goalies match up with Grand Rapids? I know Austin Lee is good, but what are his numbers? Jensen is 5-6 (lack of goal support) with a 2.23 gaa and a .926 save %. I am sure Lee is very comparable with that. Grand Rapids has 5 big, strong defenseman, 2-3 are very offensive minded. I am going to assume that Jefferson is very similar. It will be up to Jensen/Lee and Stejskal, Clafton, Smith, Cone, McInerney/the likes of Deider (sp) ect.

_________________

BOB

I can't disagree with you Bob, both teams have strong defense and great goalies. I just think Jefferson can come out with a win because I believe their forwards to be slightly stronger than Grand Rapids. Don't get me wrong, GR has a good team this year and like you already said.. their goalie has a good GAA and a great save %. From what I know, Austin Lee has a 1.61 GAA, but I am unsure of his other stats. Both teams match up really well and it should be a great game.

Also, Jefferson has not lost a game on the road this year so far, but it's too early in the season still to really make that a factor. Just thought I would throw that in there.

I won't disagree with you either. Jefferson has more proven forwards. Most people have heard of White....but that's it. Most people hear of LoBombard, Levine, etc. GR's second and third line need to play outstanding if they want to pick up the win. It should be a good game.

_________________

BOB

I won't be able to make it to Grand Rapids (at least it's looking that way) If anyone is able to post updates during the game, I would appreciate it. and Floodwood is only like 30 - 40 minutes if I recall. It's like halftime on the drive to Duluth. Everyone stops at the "Little Store".
