You want old and historic, "The Old Arena" in Theif River Falls, the old one in Crookston, I get shivers when I look at them....but the best for history is Roseau....to me.
I personally hate the Brainerd arena, the Alex one was decent on section 4 final night with both bands etc. nothing special........I personally didn't mind playing in HOMCC in TRF, I don't know why they needed a better one, in my opinion it was already second to only Warroad in the Northwest, now it is second to none. Just driving by the Hibbing one is pretty cool. I did play in Bagley, it does suck, I thought when I was sitting in teh downstairs locker rooms(they have two levels of them, that the ceiling was coming down.....but it was small and this gave the advantage to us in all of the games we played their in that tournement. you want to talk about circle endboards, the Fargo Coliseum has NO corners.......and Moorhead is a good building, but it is no classic........and not the best.........

I agree the Brainerd arena is below average. Saw it on tape 2 years ago. Pretty bland. So many of these arenas are too industrial and cold. Arenas like Hibbing and especially the IRA have some warmth. As sick as I am of the overdone knotty pine paneling (especially in log homes), it's nice for an arena.

I was told there was a delay at the NP at Northfield girls game last week when the zamboni slammed into the boards. They had to bungee the fender back on the machine before they could get it off the ice.

Of course, if it would have damaged the boards at Northfield, it would have been an improvement.

I would have to say the Ralph at TRF, very nice and fun to watch hockey at.

The little ralph is the most luxurius. It is extremely nice. Nicest "STRICTLY High school and youth arena" in the entire country more than likely. However, Atmoshere-wise the only time it is the best in minnesota (excluding of course the excel) is when it's full. By full I mean the first game played there TRF vs. EGF. Probly the only time it was full.

REA is amazing as well as the gardens, the huck was great too. Red Lake Falls icebox is fun and probably the only arena colder inside in January than it is outside.

captainug, don't forget about the Warroad vs. TRF Section 8a Championship game last year in the REA. That was completely full and had two bands playing and two noisy student sections. That was a great atmosphere.
