Red Wing

As of tonight, the Wingers are 9 - 0 - 2

Any guesses as to how the AHA game will go on the 12th?
I'm not calling a shutout for AHA,.. If they can tie at 5-5 with Centennial, I think the Wingers have a chance.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... s>liz07 at: 1/5/06 11:09 pm

If I'm right... the only team in the Missota that has beat AHA in the last 5 years is Red Wing so I think if anyone in that conference is going to beat AHA it's gonna be Red Wing. I think it could be 5-4 either way maybe add in a empty netter for the winner.

If Red Wing can shut down AHA's first line they have a chance. If they win it would have to be the biggest upset of the year.

If they plan on winning that game, they need to play way better than they did against Farmington last night..

RW

Post by rl3ao » Fri Jan 06, 2006 2:54 pm

I have been to all of RW's home games this year, so I have seen both sides of the team.

First, Red Wing will have to play better than they have anytime this year, AHA will have to play worse than they have this year, RW will need great goaltending, and RW will need a few calls from the refs to keep it close.

IMO, AHA will have no problem extending their conference winning streak to 67 games. (and yes RW was the last conference team to beat them, in 2001)

When RW is at the top of their game they can beat any team in Class A and alot of AA teams. However they have struggled in previous games, especially against Farmington.

RW's Defense A-
RW's Offense C+
RW's Special Teams B+

Their defense and goaltending can keep them in any game against any team in the state but they will need to improve their offense if they want to stay within 3 of AHA and if they want to get back to state.

You're right... the game against farmington last night was crap. We typically dominate when it comes to farmington. However, we have a couple of star players who have their heads too far up their butts and won't pass for an assist.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... s>liz07 at: 1/7/06 11:06 am

I am glad someone pointed out that the Farmington squeaker was not great. I do not believe that Frompton is that good. But what do I know??? Because AHA ties Centennial 5-5 (btw, Cenn would blow RW outa the water) that means RW has a chance? They have a chance, once again, if barribal, mattson and hurley get the flu.

first of all red wing has some pretty good depth so if you think holy angels are going to win 11-2 i think you are wrong and maybe incompetent. i guarentee if rw played osseo they would shut them out and put up at least 5-7, and also they havent even beaten a team with eleven goals, how could they put up 11 since rw has allowed only 14 in 11 games this year? i think it will be closer than anyone predicted...

While I didn't see the game it seems like people are making too much out of the score. It's not uncommon especially mid-way through the season for higher ranked teams to come into a game a little less focused while their opponants are always looking for the upset. Conference games in particular are always tougher than they should be - look how tough WCHA games are for the gophs.

Good teams play through these problems and continue to win, so-so teams let these games slip through their fingers.

That said, RW is definately one of the top ten teams in Class A, they will have problems managing the depth and skill level of AHA.

Prediction AHA 6 - RW 2

The real challenge for RW will be Shakopee the following week.

I think rl3ao hit the nail on the head, Red Wing does have a chance if the "Stars" align just right. Red Wing plays good team defense, the question will be can they generate enough offense to keep them in the game. If they can they'll be able to keep it close enough that anything could happen, if they can't, well, a 4 or 5-1 loss will probably be the outcome.

coming close to AHA

Post by mathrunner » Sat Jan 07, 2006 9:50 pm

I know they beat them and it was a shut out, but, example one, RW was only able to get one goal against Breck. Breck's no where near and they're supposed to score more against them. They are a an excellent team, not trying to bash them or anything. They have good defense so they don't need to score very many goals usually. I won't go into all their games, but you can look and see that there's no way they'll be able to score that much against AHA. Maybe their defense will be able to keep it low, but their offense won't be able to put that many in.
