Please list new functions you like or old ones that you miss. Please Post specific comments and suggestions and vote in the poll.

The search function seems to work much better than the old forum.

Acclimation to a slightly different yet very similar format will take some time obviously! Some of us resist change I guess... but I like the upgrade...

Wish I could post my thoughts on the new forum...under my original username but it's not working to well for me.

It seems that you can not edit your post right away after submitting it. That is something that I seem to do, after I read what I sent. That is usually when I find the typos and misspelled words. Also, is there a spell checker?

The board is set to require 60 seconds between posts (evidently no exception for edits) as one protection against spammers. I may change that to 30.

You can use preview to see the post as it will look before it is up and edit it again before it goes "live".

Looks like there is a spell check mod available, I will look into it.

Overall I think the new board will have some better functions, but the only problem I can see is that some people would like their old usernames and i konw mine didn't work, it's not a big deal for me but others might want to keep their old usernames. Although i do see that some people on the site have got their old names to work.
Just a thought.

I think that almost everyone that has contacted me about such a problem has eventually been successful with their old ID. There may be a couple of people that I am in the process of helping/trading messages with via e-mail, ezinbox, or PM's via this forum.

Oh well thats ok, I just created a new username.

Another thing I just figured out is that if you are not already logged in and it asks your username at the top when you want to reply, if you type your username in it says, "username already in use". I don't know if this is just for me put I've figured ou that it kind of makes you sign in with the log in thing in the top. You can't just do it right before you post.

Good tip.

IF you are the only one who visits these forums on your computer (important IF), then I would advise checking the box at sign in so that you will always be logged in automatically when you visit the site.

There is an option in your account to hide whether you are visible if that is a concern.

I love the new profile features. You can put your area, website, messengers, etc. It's very nice.

89 people have created a username this month. I think the board is going to do some more growing this year.

posts per page

Post by boblee » Thu May 18, 2006 12:44 pm

Is there somewhere were you can edit posts per page you view? On the old forum, I had it at 100. This 15 or 20 isn't doing it for me.

Sorry, that is a boardwide setting. I prefer to keep it lower and click on the link to the last page of a topic. Seems that it isn't very often that there are more than about 20 messages I haven't read in a topic if I have been following it.

I really dislike the adds in the middle of the page and I wish polls had their own forum like they did on EZ Board. I think we might lose quite a few regulars who just won't go through the hassle to change accounts, I just about gave up myself.

To get my account activated I had to go back to my EZ Board profile and track down an old e-mail address that I very rarely use, but was the one I used years ago when I signed up. Luckily it was still an open account and after filtering my way through 1739 spam adds for home loans, viagra and porn I found the link. My spam killer program sent the message straight to the junk bin, the auto dump is set on 2 week cycle, I'd imagine more than few will end up in the same boat and just not get to the e-mail in time before the autodump takes its toll. I can't think of another way of notifying people, but I believe that was the first message I recieved from USHSHO.com in years.

I moved that ad, hopefully the new location is less annoying.

Polls have yet to be exiled because:
1:this forum displays 100 topics at a time, rather than 25
2:polls topics do not move to the top on this board when someone merely votes (this was the ezboard bug that caused me to separate polls there).

Sorry to hear that the transition was difficult in your case. I commend your persistence, most people would have contacted me for help much sooner.

FWIW, there have been other messages from the forums (to users' registered e-mail addresses) as recently as 6 months ago.

Subjectively speaking

Post by packerboy » Tue Jun 06, 2006 1:31 pm

After using it now for a while, I think the only thing I dont like is the subject box.

When creative posters get into it on a thread, sometimes the subject box was a big part of the post and often times just as funny and insightful as the post.

This new format really demphasizes the subject which is too bad.

I agree with Packerboy. I tried to use a larger font to emphasize the subject on a post in another thread, and it didn't work. :(
