It's actually considered Tier I by their designation. Canada doesn't actually have the Tier 1, 2, 3 designations. Instead they have Junior A, B & C. Of course also Major Junior, but that's considered professional.Mailman wrote: It's considered Tier II I believe.
Canadian Junior A Leagues are required to cover all player costs, just the like the USHL down here.
Canadian Junior B Leagues cover hockey costs, but you pay your billets, just like the NAHL down here.
Canadian Junior C Leagues are pay to play, just like Tier 3 down here.
The RBC Cup is the Junior A Championship, chased by all the Junior A Leagues (BCHL, AJHL etc.) The Penticton Vees are one of the better known teams around here because lots of our boys go to play there, but they fell short, losing to the Surrey Eagles in the BCHL finals.
Not all Canadian Junior A Leagues are considered equal, so it will be interesting to see how the Wildnerness do in this Tournament.
Canadian Junior A Leagues
- Canadian Junior Hockey League (governing authority)
Alberta Junior Hockey League
British Columbia Hockey League
Central Canada Hockey League
Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League *
Manitoba Junior Hockey League
Maritime Junior Hockey League
Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League
Ontario Junior Hockey League
Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League
Superior International Junior Hockey League
(*) Quebec Junior "AAA" is equal to Ontario Junior "A"
