COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- USA Hockey today announced the dates and schedule for the first-ever USA Hockey Junior Jamboree, which will serve as a showcase of all-star teams from 12 different junior leagues. The two-day event will take place Nov. 13-14, 2006, at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

"The event will principally be a showcase of the talent in our program to a lot of different observers," said Dave Tyler, vice president of USA Hockey and also the chair of the organization's Junior Council. "For the first time, we're going to have 14 all-star teams from 12 different leagues all in one building, where you can see them all within six hours of competition."

The United States Hockey League will bring two teams of draft-eligible players to the Jamboree to compete against each other in a pair of games. The USHL is the only Tier I junior hockey league in the United States.

In addition to the Tier I action, a total of 11 Tier III junior leagues will be represented by all-star teams comprised of players 20 years of age and under in Junior A, Junior B and Junior C contests.

NOTES: Both the USHL and the Empire Junior Hockey League will have two teams participating in the Jamboree ... Rosters for the event will be released by Nov. 3 ... Ticket prices for the event are $10 for a single day pass and $20 for a tournament pass, which includes an event program. Scout passes will also be available ... There are 14 junior hockey leagues in the United States that include over 170 teams and over 4,000 players ... The North American Hockey League, which conducted its NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn., in early September, and the Continental Development League are the only junior leagues in the United States not taking part in the event.
