Edina? I guess the last 3 years didn't happen.

Greenway? Didn't they have 2 Gophers last year? How'd they do in the playoffs with that talent?

My vote goes to Holy Angels, hands down. Trebil used to win games for Jefferson's bantams like it was going out of style, and now he's got AHA as one of the top 5 teams in the state, year in and year out.

Looks like BIAP is a 'fan' of nearly as many teams as Prowler05 seems to be. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Many of the best coaches in the state are unknown to most. Why? They coach for the love of the game, have very little talent to work with, kids love to play for them, and most importantly they get the most out of what they have.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Bader, I'm not trying to offend you in any way, but does Little Falls really have a good coach, or did you put them in because you're a fan. I don't have the facts, I was just wondering because I haven't heard much about them

Ask the state high school league if he's a recruiter. They went over that program with a fine toothed comb, and they didn't come up with anything. Funny how Corey's tranfer to Greenway is legit in your eyes, but not kids going to a private school in Richfield.

Centerman You are SOOOOOOO right

Can't say it any better than that. The better coaches are also involved with developing the coaches and younger players in their programs. I'm sure that coach Trebil spends alot of time with the Pee Wees and Bantams. (From all of the neighboring programs!!!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> )

petey-show me where I have ever said "anyone's" transfer was o.k.! I don't believe in it anywhere. Where exactly is the community of AHA? I can't seem to find it on the map.

Stang, you proved my point. Some of the best coaches are unknown and probably want to remain that way.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

at least biap has realized that indus no longer has a team and the kids play at little falls... that said, i would like to say coach cary eades is an excellent coach because he can pull winning seasons from teams with zero talent. he may be kind of mean and nasty, but he's mean and nasty to everyone no matter who you are. obviously i'm totally biased because i know no other coach, but i think he takes an awful lot of slack from everyone on this board about imports and such, and doesn't get enough credit for the magic he works with the scruffy bunch of kids he has to deal with at times.

I would say it has got to be hands down, Trebil. He is
THE coach, like Brooks meant to the Goden Gophers, that's what Trebil meant to the Bloomington Jefferson program. When his teams at Holy Angels are playing and moving the puck like he coaches them to do, they are a sight to see. They are undoubtably the best. Of course, these are still just kids, so they do have nights that are off nights. But they do play the best TEAM game. How many other programs sent as many players to division one? I don't know the exact count, but I think it was around 5-6 kids off of one team in one year. Saterdalen was the high school coach, yes and I'm sure a very good coach, but those kids came out of the Bantam program with some extremely good hockey skills from Trebil as their coach
but they

To rate a coach on how many titles they have or how many great players is really not saying much about the coach.

A high school coach is a teacher first. High School coaches should act the same way they do in the classroom. Coaches that use profanity, scream at officials, and basically make a fool of themselves have no business coaching HIGH SCHOOL hockey. They may know the game, but they should be coaching college or juniors. Kids learn from their mentors. It's an extension of the classroom, and I know classroom teachers that do these things are fired.

I know some of you will come back with the "macho" statement about how the game is tough and the kids need to learn that. A coach (teacher) can teach toughness, without profanity, and berating officials.
