Pine vs. Tri-City

Post by Excel33 » Thu Feb 13, 2003 11:24 pm

We beat Tri-City tonight 6-3. It was a fun game. Gross had four goals and Berglund had the other two. Lots of powerplays and penality kills for the Dragons tonight. I know we might be seated #9 but if we can beat Denfield it will be interesting to see what the score is when/if we play Sauk. I know they have Peskamp and he's outstanding, and i know they have a good goalie, but what do they have besides them two????? I am just wondering, cause I've heard of some injuries, are they still injured, and who are they? I think our team is back on track though after beating Cambridge and Tri-City before playoffs. Good luck to everyone in playoffs, it will be interesting!!!!!

ML vs. P-town

Post by Beerpig » Fri Feb 14, 2003 12:59 am

P-town's assessment was absolutely correct. Princeton looked very good and Moose Lake didn't come to play. They seemed more interested in hitting someone than playing hockey. As someone who watches Moose Lake, it was dissapointing to see them play so well against Two Harbors and follow that game up with such a lack luster performance.

I realize Two Harbors is no Princeton, but with a little effort they could have at least made it a game.

Well, they have one week to make a difference! Good job Princeton! You showed why you are successful.

Mora Sartell

Post by ptown tigers » Fri Feb 14, 2003 3:36 pm

What is everyone's take on this game tonight? The seeds are set so it really means nothing. But it would be nice for either team to head into the playoffs on a High note. I think sartell is the favorite, but I am going to go with the sleeper on this one. Mora 4 Sartell 3.Close game. Anyone going to be there?

Sweet. Thanks for sharing that information. Highliy orginal, saying thay a good Pewee team could win it. Honestly why would you post that, it makes no sense. It is clearly posted 2A, why would you even take the time to post that. This thread is for people who care about 2A. Which apparantly there are alot of. So dont say anything if you dont care about it.

I think that Princeton has a pretty good chance at coming out on top of this section. With all of Sauk Rapids' injuiries, they should be able to capitalize on that. And Sauk's goalie is not all that great, put pressure on hit and he will crack. Big guy that gives up big rebounds. Not all that fast either.

OK, looks like everyone is getting ready for next week. Teams are prepared, and the trash talk is turning into informational talk. Starting Tuesday every game is important. If a team has a bad night, or someone is hurt or suspended, it doesn't matter because if you lose, you're done..

AND!!!! Whoever goes on from here, I think we have enough of a reason to kick some butt... I don't care if you're from 8A or what, EVERY game is a big game. On the games and seeding in 2A

Post by The hockeywriter » Sat Feb 15, 2003 12:13 pm

Ok first guys dont worry about imature kids who cant take that we have a nice thing on this thread dont sweat them they are just jealous. Now to the games on Thursday I went to the Sauk Rapids vs Brainerd game.

Brainerd 4 Sauk Rapids 3
So I had to ge see the #1 seeded Sauk Rapids??? play and I have to say it was a decent game but only cause of Ryan Pesckamp he is the whole Sauk Rapids offensive attack. First period brainerd came out fyling and took it to the Storm the first goal coming from Tyler Peterson nice goal. then a little later in the period Morgan Shepard on a real pretty goal and right before the end of the period Shepard scored again after the first it looked liek all Brainerd. But the Storm battled back Peskskamp what a player got the first one for sauk then he set up there second one a real pretty play to Peter Abel and then he got there third on nice pass from Wocken who was solid definsivly as well. so after 2 it was tied 3-3. But then in the third Sauk was dead they had been worn down and the Warriors took over having all the chances and final on a reall beatuy of a wrap around goal SHepard compeleted his hat trick the period was was all warriors the shot in the third were 12-3 in favor of Brainerd they get a nice win. But the Storm battled hard just not enough depth.
My 3 Stars of the game
1.) Morgan Shepard (Brainerd) 3 goals was a force
2.) Ryan Peckskamp (SR) 3 points was the best player on the ice
3.) Gregg Day (Brainerd) had 2 nice assists to Shepard
Real nice game but Sauk look tired and wore down in the end final shots were 32-23 in favor of Brainerd.

Sartell 4 Mora 1
Didnt see game but had a friend who went Mora had Akkerman back in the linup so likes he will be back. he siad Mora totally out played Sartell and looking at the shots in times it was like 37- 16 in favor of Mora but Mora started backup goalie Bliss so maybe that hadd a little to do with it and Legatt had a huge game in the nets looks like both teams were just kinda resting guys before playoffs Sabers get a nice win.

On take on the Section 2A Seedings
Ok first off Sauk Rapids getting #1 is not right they only played 2 section oppents and look at there record 12-11-1 less then impressive but look at that top bracket SCC, Mora, PC and DD I mean that is going to be tough to come out of. I know Princeton is upset they didnt get #1 btu they look to have the easier road. Ok on the teams I think DD or Pc will give SR a gmae both are teams that can be dangerous but Sauk will beat either one SCC Mora game will be fun it will be close could go either way. Proctor Sartell unless proctor's #1 goalie is back no love for the rails and I see Princeton over Moose Lake but not by alot I think it is tough to beat a team 9-1 and come back and play well. and then go from there it should be fun a new season I am going to head up to Duluth to watch the DD vs PC game I love the playoffs I will have an in depth scouting report ready on Monday goodluck to all the teams I wish you all the best of luck.

Playoffs

Post by ptown tigers » Sat Feb 15, 2003 1:45 pm

I am excited for this years playoffs. I went to the Mora Sartell game last night, stayed for the first two periods. Sartell wasnt playing their firstline all that much. They were playing really conservitive. Akkermen looked outstanding. He was on a mission. yes its true Hjellie didnt start, but I left when it was 3-1 and I think he wouldnt have stopped any of those three goals. They were all snipes, outstanding shots. We were tryen to scout Sartell but it wasnt an easy task them not playing their first line a lot, and no Penalties first two periods. Hard to scout those games.

The matchup I think will be interesting this year is if Denfield beats Pine it will be DD and Sauk(or Bushey vs. Peskemp) the battle of the one man teams. I think sauk would win it but It would be interesting to watch.

Mora? I believe you are the first person yet to pick them. It may not be a bad choice. It depends what team comes out to play, and if they keep their heads. They have alot of talent, but tend to get very emotional. And take stupid penalties. Also Kastenbauer being out will not help them, but I saw last night that Grabowski was Defense and Forward, probably to help make up for the loss of Kastenbauer I assume. Who knows?

Scores from today

Post by The hockeywriter » Sun Feb 16, 2003 12:58 am

Ok 2 games today and they are done whcih offically means the playoffs start tommrow i will have a report on each team anwhat they will need to do to twin and i iwll pick my winner but as for the games today.

Chisago Lakes 2 SCC 0
I went to the game in st.cloud with SCC losing 2-0 to Chisago Lakes. SCC looked like a team that was resting for playoffs starting there back up goalie but it was a good game to watch with CL showing there a good team they were the better team today was a back forth in the first good chances both way but neither team could find the back of the net. But in the Second Steve Pieper found the back of the net on a nice goal. and then a later in the Period Bruder found the back of the net again to put CL up 2-0 and thats all they would need Waltz was dominate in the nets and Hoffman was really solid on the blueline. Nice win for the Wildcats SCC looked like a team gearing for the playoffs but they will need to pick it up in the scoring department cause hjelle is better than Waltz and I could see an upset by Mora if he gets hot but today it was Chisago with a nice win.
My 3 Stars of the game
1.) Chris Waltz (CL) got the shutout with 23 saves played real well.
2.) Phil Hoffman (CL) played well best player on the ice had 1 point.
3.) Steve Pieper (CL) got the first big goal in the game.

Chisago Lakes&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 0 2 0 ‹ 2
St. Cloud Cathedral&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 0 0 0 ‹ 0

First period: No scoring.
Second period: 1. CL ‹ Steve Pieper (Matt Nelson) 8:06; 2. Rob Bruder (Craig Manthey, Phil Hoffman) 10:28.
Third period: No scoring.
Shots on goal: CL ‹ 9-9-8 ‹ 27; C ‹ 8-8-7 ‹ 23. Goaltenders: CL ‹ Chris Waltz (23 saves); C ‹ John Ziemann (24).

Other game today was in Sauk Rapids with the score SR 7 Hutchinson 3. dont got alot of info on the game nice to see SR can break that huge losing streak before playoffs.

And now playoffs start will havbe that report tommrow should be fun to watch how temas do.

GO CHS

Post by CHSfan19 » Sun Feb 16, 2003 9:45 am

hockey writer you and everyone out there you don't have a clue about CHS. I've been watching them for 5 years, and this year is one of there best. They have 3 solid forward lines, and solid defense. Yes sometimes we don't have our best game, but everyone has that. Eric Dahl is very fast, and so is Matt Crandell. Matt is a solid player, he likes to hit. John Ziemann is a good goalie, so is Joel Rindelaub. I know that we are going to go far in the playoffs, we are having a good year this year. We got the conference. I just can't wait until playoffs because I know we're going to show you guys some real hockey!

All the talk in the world is gonna mean doodily-squat at this point in the season. Show it on the ice, or shut up....

Who's the most dangerous team in this section right now? My pick is Mora.... Who's the strongest? Probably Princeton.. Who's gonna win this section? The team that WANTS IT THE MOST!! It's not going to be the coach that wants it the most, nor the parents, nor anybody on this thread... The players that want to prove something will go on from here... AS A TEAM........

Nobody can answer this question, except to show in during the games next week: Who wants to be the best????

OK boys, saddle 'em up and let's hit the ice!!

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

The section

Post by classAhockey » Sun Feb 16, 2003 2:40 pm

SCC i'm thinking you guys are in for a rude awakening because first off you have two of the top teams in yoru side, in which you only beat Mora 2-1 early this season. In the next matchup you will get beat.....because one you have cocky attitudes thinking your the greatest and two Mora's got the heart and determination to make it to the Big Show this year....you've choked every other year in the playoffs and i'll put money on it you'll choke again.
Besides Cathedral, this years playoffs should be fun, starting up with the lead in game at the DECC. I will be there to see these two teams battle it out. I'm picking Pine City out of this one because Denfeld isn't going to win on there one man team alone. But this should be a good game. Both teams have been playing alot better lately and could make a huge upset early on in the playoffs if their goalies get hot. I will have my analysis on the game tomorrow night....and on the other games coming thursday later in the week. GOod luck to all teams, whoever wants it most will make the trip this year.
