Unofficial results

Post by east hockey » Fri Feb 28, 2003 10:24 pm

With only two finals not yet in (White Bear vs Centennial and Alexandria vs Moorhead), it appears there are only two contestants left; goalie91 (ten correct picks) and Flashshot10 (nine correct picks). Goalie91 has picked White Bear and Moorhead, Flashshot10 has picked White Bear and Alexandria.

Since both have picked White Bear, we'll have to wait until tomorrow's 8AA final to determine the winner. Goalie91 gets the title with a Moorhead win, Flashshot10 gets the nod if Alex wins (Flashshot10 has the tie-breaker edge, being only two shots off on the Gophers shot total last Friday).

It's possible (but not likely) that none of us will have picked more than ten correct section winners. I'm surprised, considering there were 57 who entered picks before the deadline.

This is all still unofficial. I'll be retabulating everyone's results tomorrow morning.

We'll do this again for the State Tournament next week in a new thread.

Lee

Lee says ...

"Here's the catch; you can't just pick all the top seeds. He (goalie91) didn't specify which team he meant when he typed in SL park; since St. Louis Park and Spring Lake Park played each other in the quarter-finals of 5A he could have meant Spring Lake Park. His answer could be construed either way ... and it was this mistake that should unequivocably disqualify him.

If there is any editing at all done to any post after Lee's deadline ... they should be immediately disqualified and banned from the site forever and ever ... amen. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat"> - Any comments?

It's boneheads like you that look for trivial drivel to drive guys like petey away, thus eliminating vast oceans of information into oblivion.

These were predictions (Sauk Rapids winning 2A & Lee's contest with section winners). SLPark

Post by east hockey » Sun Mar 02, 2003 6:55 pm

You know, it never occurred to me that goalie91 could have meant Spring Lake Park, and that's just my individual bias (assumption, whatever you wanna call it); it wasn't clear in any case.

I should exclude that pick, regardless of Spring Lake Park being a #7 seed (a seven seed which, by the way, lost by just a single goal to the other SLP in the 5A quarterfinals).

Ultimately, it was everyone's responsibility to be clear when making their picks, especially when an acronym could be used for two schools in the same section.

So, now what?

Videoscout, you have a perfectly valid point. I cannot give props for winning a contest based on an assumption that SLP meant St Louis Park and not Spring Lake Park. Am I "sure" that goalie91 meant St Louis Park? 99% sure, but that's not the point.

Should goalie91 share the title with thekennedy? (who had eleven correct picks but won the tie-breaker with four others based on being only one shot off on the Gophers SOG total). No, not really.

thekennedy should be (and is) the winner, plain and simple. The last damn thing I wanted was to reverse a decision. Not that I care about looking like an ass (I'm used to that...ask my wife), but right is right.

Lee
