highscout, is this rip on people that i know day or what?

Garrity (teammate) -- Yes among the best players in state and nation, good call he is a big time player.

Peterson (teammate) -- Ryan is the hardest working player on our team, he works for every point he gets and is not handed anything, he has the biggest heart in any player i've seen/played with and if you try and take anything away from him i would have to say go **** yourself because there is no way he isn't a solid player.

Dey (teammate) -- Yes i admit with all the Nate Dey hype you would think he would have 50 goals 60 assists by now this season, and yeah he probably should have that many and isn't playing as solid as he can but he HAS come up big when he is needed to, i've noticed the game winning goal statistics for our team and i do believe he has more than 3/4's of them, he will come up big when he is needed.

Regan (cousin) -- Overrated how do ya figure? I do believe he was all-state last year because he did what he had to do in key situations too, something i believe you have overlooked as a "scout" is not how MANY points players get but WHEN they get their points

And now for the conference, i do believe Our conference has many of the top Class A and AA teams just to mention a few just in case you were thinking of someone elses,

North St. Paul
Hill-Murray
Mahtomedi
Simley

South St. Paul can also come up big but is strugling with the inexperience of Sophomore goaltenders.

'Nuff said

I'm not sure who that last post was directed at, baller here, but the Classic Suburban is not a very good conference. There are two teams that could compete pretty much anywhere, but other than that, there isn't much going on. It's no coincidence that those three NSP guys have so many points, considering that the team has scored 14, 11, and 9 (twice) goals against very, very bad teams. I'm not arguing that those guys aren't good, but when Simley is being offered as an argument of a strong conference, perhaps that argument needs a re-evaluation.

I've got no problem with Regan; other than his complete non-existance against Jefferson, I have no idea how he's done on a game-to-game basis, and judging by his points, he's done fine. But, when I guy like Ryan Hawkins has outscored him against much tougher competition, I have a tough time accepting Regan as the choice for Mr. Hockey.

I really don't see how people are going to get around the Gordon and Borgen argument. Nobody seems to want to address it; they just seem to keep saying things like "Kilpatrick should get it, and here's why." Quite frankly, any argument for somebody other than those two guys needs to be prefaced with reasons why either of them aren't qualified for the award. There is a mountain of history supporting the idea that a Gopher will get the award, and both of those guys have been scoring points like it's their job (though as I've pointed out before, those two are playing pretty light schedules as well; it's not their fault, that's just the way it is).

Unless Kilpatrick suddenly scores 30 more points before the end of the year, nobody really seems to have a shot. In a perfect world, I'd say you'd have to give a look at Mike Lundin, based on the fact that he plays literally 40 minutes of the game and plays stellar defense. But, this kind of thing usually comes down to points and who's going where next year, and those two factors weigh heavily in favor of Gordon and Borgen.

I'm going to have to defend my evaluation of Simley, although they have not been winning many games they have been playing tough teams and playing close, Simley DID happen to beat us one game tying the game with one second left and then winning it in overtime, and stayed rather close, they also stayed right with Hill Murray only losing by a goal earlier on in the season and im not sure about the second game or if they have played their second game yet but if they haven't im sure they will be right with them. That is my evaluation of Simley, they are strong defensively especially helped out by their goaltender and if they had maybe just 1 more Offensive player they would be a force to be reckoned with.

I now realize that my majority of posting has been on the Mr. Hockey thread but i have yet to cast my opinion on the subject.

Sean Garrity for Mr. Hockey <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> Best all around player in the state and definately not afraid to "try something new!" <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b">

i think that the three line mates at nsp are the best line in the state they have been playing together since 10th grade and have dominated every year since. i think that those three should be in the final ten for sure. they deserve a lot speaking there gonna win the conf. and they do most of the work for that team with others to contributing but very slim.

north12 or whatever you call yourself face it and admit it you don't play in a tuff conference and if you think you do you just kidding yourself. Congrats to Reagan for scoring alot of points against Tartan and teams of quality in your highly competitive conference. Are you just another player Garrity is carrying on his back because come sections it gonna break and I promise you that. Dey is a good player but watch Garrity in the Elite league he was the spark of the line which made everything happen. Sometimes you have to accept when your wrong son.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

The best line in the state that I have seen would be Holy Angels first line. Huck and Kilpatrick are both extrememly skilled, and no matter who plays with them, that player will be good too. Anybody who has seen Kilpatrick play would agree he should get serious consideration for Mr. Hockey. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it to the NHL someday. He's got that much potential.

Highscout, Relax and breath.Relax and breath. You are calling out a 10th grader in High School. Yeah he believes his confrence is pretty good. The confrence is the 5th best confrence out of 11 in the metro area. You must be from the White Bear area to believe White Bear is that good. They are good but they are beatable on any given night. Have they played a first line like NSP? North12 is a second line forward,Garrity isn't carrying him!
Again, Relax and breath Highscout you sound stessed out.

Bad teams get deserve no credit

Post by highscout » Tue Feb 04, 2003 2:01 pm

Chester91 I'm not calling out a 2nd line bench warmer related to Regan. What would the point of that be. I just believe that week conferences deserve less credit than they have been give. Yes Garrity is great, Dey might be good but not 1/2 the player Sean is. NSP doesn't have what it takes to go very far. Garrity can't carry them through sections. Yes he is great but so are players from WBL, Centenial and not HILL (Regan sucks). Watching NSP in Peewees and Bantams they got blew out by 8 goals against quality teams. I just believe they play a week schedule and can't compete with the overall skill of a team like WBL or maybe even Centenial, but that would be a close game. WBL has a stronger team than last years by far when they took NSP out of the playoffs in a convincing 4-1 win that could have been 10-1 if NSP goalie didn't play the game of his life. Yes NSP has better forwards than WBL, but Malark and Greer are solid players. WBL has a depth advantage with forwards too. I'd also give the defense and goaltending to WBL by a landslide. Looks like all NSP has is maybe 3 players, but I still say it is team Sean Garrity.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

I reserve the right to my opinion. I NEVER said your beloved JK wasn't good. Also, I was at the game. If you read my post, I meant the MSC people AT THE GAME didn't complain. I completely agree that Mr. Hockey should be an all around player. This is why, in my opinion only, there are a lot of players that qualify.
I will hold my original opinion on Hillen. I don't have to agree with you that he is as good as you think. But, that's your opinion and you have every right to state it as I do! You are a true die hard fan for that team, they should be proud to have you as such a vocal booster. I certainly wouldn't put you down for your loyalty. I guess it is just hard for you to hear anything that doesn't jive with your thoughts.
I have to agree with Petey's thoughts on this Mr. Hockey issue. (Which is where this whole thread started!) I would be very surprised if someone other than those mentioned with D1 scholarships gets it. Do I agree that this should happen so often? Not really, I still think there are many fine kids who could be up for it!! Peteys brother included!!

highscout, i have to agree with most of the people responding to you in that i dont see what your problem is. i dont think the team is "team sean garrity" as you called it, like gator9 said that line is amazing together and everyone of them is a part of it. peterson works his butt off like matt said, and always has energy and can always be counted on to go out there and play. also like matt said, dey scores when it is needed and can come up big whenever. sean's a really hard worker and i would say the most aggressive on the line when it comes to physical play, so they work so well together and get a lot of points. those points are not only a result of perhaps playing a few weaker teams, but also because they are out on the ice working really hard to get some goals. i seriously believe north has a great shot at state this year, and i hope they make it all the way.

Lance Malark from WBL deserves mention. Possibly a top 10 finalist. Isn't a Borgen, Gordon or Garrity.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /alien.gif ALT="0]">

Malark is solid and carries the load for WBL offense, but won't come close in winning Mr. Hockey. Maybe a top 10 finalist if he is lucky. Still solid though.

Wow, Slapshooter and Bluesbuddy, you must be huge fans of Kilpatrick's! Especially you Slapshooter, to stay up until 2AM gushing about him. You must have even traveled to New Prague to watch the game last night if you know all his stats at that hour (unless you stayed up all night waiting for the early edition of the paper).

Again, I have nothing against Jimmy Kilpatrick. I'm glad he was able to get 5 points last night. His style must work well against a team like New Prague. My point is that when the competition gets tougher, he shouldn't try to do it all by himself.
