Before you start calling people idiots, ask questions first. I too, as most people like to say here, personally know people that played HS hockey in warroad, and have gotten on the subject with them. I'm not saying who it is that told me, that's not the point here, but a friend of mine *an ex warrior like yourself* has told me that things like this happen. I'm sure it happens elsewhere too. But to say that warroad hockey players are good students in school and most are on the a/b honor roll doesn't hold much credit when they have to be in order to play HS sports and be looked at for college teams. Which that is the whole point in playing hockey, right? Going to play college hockey so "hockey town USA" has something to brag about.

-Yeah-

Tony Selvog is a great hockey player. I have seen him play many times and he definately has a good future in this sport.

OK enough already ,Tony is a good player, he probably could have scored a bunch more goals if he played in all the blow out 3 periods but so could have all the top scores if they played in all the lop sided third periods. What's the point?

let's all get off the band wagon of cutting down players. One player does not make a team, you need forwards, defenseman, and goalies, warroad has all these. If they are going to be state champs, they all have to play together to get to their goal of winning. Selvog is a good player and leader of the warriors. GO WARRIORS!!

I agree! The Warriors consist of a great group of boys that really know what they are doing. There is no doubt about it that they are team players. I predict they will be a winning team down at the big show. Tony, though, is an awesome hockey player. He went to the state tourney as a freshman and was part of the all tournament team and he deserves to be right back down there again. Good Luck Warriors!

Slapshooter a/k/a Bluesbuddy a/k/a who knows what else: I know our loyalties to Section 8 run deep with you attending parochial school in Crookston and all, but surely even with that bias you can see that Selvog was not one of the final 10 candidates and surely you can see that he has no chance to win the award(Mr. Hockey). He does, however, still have a chance to win the prestigious State Tournament in Class A with the Warriors. We can all wage our campaigns for who we think should get the award, but let's at least keep the debate to who actually has a shot. I know you back Jimmy K., but you have to admit that in several veiled attempts, you have pushed the issue for Selvog. Talk all you want about how good a player you think this kid and his club are, but stick to facts. Do you think they have any shot against the formidable Otters from the perennial powerhouse Section 4A?<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> By the way, who are your loyalties with in the AA tourney, Spuds or Stars(of David)?<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Angus ... first of all ... I can attest to the fact that Bluesbuddy is truly not Slapshooter. I happen to know them both. Both were up at Warroad last week during the tournaments.

Bluesbuddy was a pretty good goalie in his day. Obviously, he's a big 'blues' fan when it comes to music.

His ramblings can be heard regionally and soon nationally if his show gets syndicated.

He has lived near Los Angeles for years before moving back to this area nearly 6-7 years ago.

He has actually done color on television for hockey games.

And yes ... he is quite a character but he's no Slapshooter.

Anyway ... Slapshooter and myself have a $500 bet on who will win the state championship ... Moorhead for Videoscout; Holy Angels for Slapshooter. Obviously only one of us will still be in the running @ 3:00 pm on Thursday. If neither team actually wins the whole thing ... then the bet's null and void.

oh... and by the way...

Tony says 'hi' to Mike ... apparently they are very good friends <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Tony says 'hi' to the other Mike as well ...

So does Ron. Hey Vid Scout and Slapshooter, where did I say I was resentful of Selvog. I admitted he was a good player. I was commenting that whining constantly about him not being a Mr. Hockey candidate does not take anything away from him as a player. It is not going to help him get a scholarship or make him a pro hockey player by continously bragging him up and ripping anyone who criticizes him. Let him prove the criticss wrong at the state tournament as he has done during the regular season. If you guys have problems with any of these big words I will come back and help you better understand them later. I suppose Vid Scout is still mad at me, because I don't want Moorhead to win state. I don't think that me not chearing for them will effect them either way at the big show.

ya know, all i can do is sit here and laugh at BIAFP, or whatever the hell his name is, if you want to know what happened at that game in i-falls, i can tell you, cuz i played that game..........to me it just sounds like a sore excuse to find a way out of the pain of not goin to state.....i personally would have loved to see warroad and i falls play in the finals at state, it would have been a hell of a game......the game in i falls was a hell of a hockey game, maybe the funnest i have ever played in......that is of course until the refs got involved......i would like to know where a DQ comes in for a "juke" at an i falls player? maybe i should read up on the old rule book, cuz i am damn sure that a rule like that does not show up......high school hockey is supposed to be fast paced and physical, that is why it is so fun to watch, the game is played balls to the walls and when you step off the ice you feel like you could have given nothing else, and that is the way that warroad is coached to play.......i will admit that ben gordon is one hell of a hockey player, and best wishs to him at the U of M......it is every kids dream to play at the state tournament and to play D-1 somewhere......i am a close friend of selvog, and i have talked to him about the whole mr.hockey deal, and let me assure you, the only thing on his mind is to bring a state championship back to warroad, which i hope that he does, but, may the best team win.......so why dont we all give creit where credit is due, and let the tourny begin........i am sure that it will be a classic, as i am looking forward to it, and i am sure that everyone else is Benny Is A F***in Punk or whatever your name is, just give it up and dont start battles that you cant win
--------oh yes, so how did little benny look in daddies big loss ?????

Tony played the same way in the Section Finals. Quiet in the first two periods. The opposition keeping him under wraps pretty good. But when the going gets tough and he needs to be a leader he shows up.

Selvog is a gamble!

Post by tooold2tell » Wed Mar 05, 2003 6:19 pm

After watching selvog this past year, and during today's game against Fergus Falls, I have concluded that he would be a gamble for any Division 1 team to take a chance on. He has some skill, good shot and a smart player, so he has that going for him, but there is something missing. If I was coaching a Junior A team, I would certainly be interested, but would need to talk to Coach Eades about his intensity and attitude. I watched him very close today, and it seems like he lacks some desire while waiting for the puck to come to him, I think that's why most coaches are taking a wait and see attitude towards him. Just a little mention to Tony, show more emotion on the ice, (and I don't mean by making a hard check) and skate a little harder to the loose pucks, show people how hard you can work, I guarantee someone will then come knocking. Just some advice from an IFalls resident. This is by no means a warroad bashing, I think you can play, but something is missing- Good luck! 123 posts, not bad!
