What about Tony Selvog?

So, Tony Selvog is too tough for Mr. Hockey then? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> So far it sounds like most of you don't know squat about this kid. Just like in the case of Ryan Hawkins, the more I hear about this kid the more I like him. Warroad must have beat a lot of teams up pretty good to get the kind of reaction that this thread seems to be getting. Sounds like a fun team to watch. Either there is a shortage of computers up in Warroad, or the fans of that team are just sitting back having the time of their lives listening to all the cry-babies that have been defeated by their beloved Warriors. This kid must be pretty scary if the refs in International Falls had to bait him into a game misconduct. From what I heard Selvog just bumped into the other centerman as the ref was doing the yoyo thing with the puck. So far I haven't heard any details to refute that claim, which was explained to me over and over again out in the smoking section at the playoffs in Warroad. If you put five Tony Selvogs out on the ice against five Ben Gordons ... who would win? That's how you measure the best all-around player. Simply put, if Selvog can't even make the top 10 for Mr. Hockey candidates, what does that tell you? How does he stack up to Gordon the past two years in HS against similar competition? What has Selvog ever done outside of HS hockey? Nothing at Selects, nothing in the USHL....

I am from Roseau, and have seen both of them play. I can't stand Warroad, but i would much rather have 5 Selvog's on my team than 5 Gordon's. Selvog is a complete player, and probably should have been up for mr. hockey. The only reason he isn't is because he is from the north, and daddy is not his coach, pushing it. Gordon is good, but from what i have seen he is a big baby, always whining to the refs, then going to complain to daddy. I would love to have Selvog on my team. He is a complete player, from what i have seen.

Poor Gordon's dad interviewed to be the Warroad coach 10 years plus years ago. Daddy was the runnerup to Eades and son is now a runnerup to selvog.

Slapshooter- Thanks for finally saying what all of us Warroad Warrior fans have been trying to say all along! and you saying that most of us are probably just sitting at home on our computers laughing at the cry babies on teams we've beaten rip on us couldn't be more on the momey!! Over 3/4 of the posters though, that go against Warroad know nothing about them..especially about Tony Selvog. Also, Selvog has already been a part of a State Runner Up team, his Freshman year when he was voted onto the ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM. Also if the mr. hockey award is about individual stats, then why doesn't Selvog's 2nd leading scorer in the state hold any ground? The Falls people that post *cough* BIAFP *cough* need to pull their heads out, suck it up, and admit that Selvog is a great player, and that the Warriors are a good, solid, physical team. OBVIOUSLY, some people can't handle that, and then they call the Warriors cheap..it's so PLEASE BAN ME. I seriously do not understand how some of these people can say that Selvog "woud never touch the puck" if he was out there against a Gordon..it's so completely psycho! he's second behind Gordon, and not by much, especially if he would have been playing complete games, not sitting third periods. Coach Eades has a good thing going with his program, giving other kids time to play in games that aren't so close..that obviously has let selvog fall to second in the state, and he doesn't seem to mind...so instead The Warriors get a good solid team with many contributors..it's a TEAM effort..not like the Falls where it seems to be "The Ben Gordon Show"..but whatever floats your boat I guess..

When I was up in Warroad staring at the photographs of Henry Boucha and the Christians etc., I was about five feet from Tony and the rest of his team ( can someone give us a list of the names of the other members of his team?) and he and his mates along with several of their female friends were having a ball and that, to me, was really what it should be all about. I love the Display of Tony and his teammates dressed in formal wear in the lobby. Those guys are having a great time and why shouldn't they? They've got the best record in Minnesota High School Hockey so far for the 2002-2003 season. And thats probably why. They know how to have a good time, both on and off the ice. If all these kids are missing is a PR department then there is much that can and should be done about that soon. Judgment day will soon be upon us all down in the cities. And Tony's got a new 'do' freshly fashioned for the occasion. I guess if you don't want to get hit like they do in real hockey than you better just get out of the way. Like I said before. The more I hear about this kid the more I like him. And I've got a feeling that Warroads time is at hand and many 'naysayers' will get a chance to pull their respective feet right out of their hanging mouths just in time to lick a few of their wounds. I'm gonna make it a mission to get to know each and every one of these Warriors before this thing is over. The plain and simple fact that Selvog needs to dye his hair platinum blonde to get noticed shows what kind of hockey player he is. If his getting noticed for his hair is what he wants, then he'll get it. But for getting noticed and respected for his hockey ability, he's got a ways to go. Put yourself in the shoes of a D1 coach: Do you want some punk kid with platinum blonde hair playing for you, or would you rather a kid who's grown up playing old-time hockey and gets noticed for his skills and talent? Seriously... As was stated before, Selvog was NOT nominated for Mr. Hockey for good reason. Granted, he's a decent player, but obviously just not good enough.

yea who ever is saying selvog dyed his hair just to get noticed maybe you should no somthing before you talk. The whole team colored their hair either platium blonde and jet black.. its card team chemestry, maybe you should learn it. its called having fun and their doing that and playing togehter and WINNING games. yea kyle is franks kid. and as for gordon, yea hes a good player, but how can you call selvog a goon or "thug." thats a joke, not his fault he will run you over to get the puck. who cares if hes not up for mr hockey., he wants a state tourny medal, hockey is a team, gordon can have his little mr. hockey if he wants, boy that would make daddy proud... don't call selvog a thug unless you watch him play and all the stuff he does even when hes not scoreing, hockey is a too way sport, (someone tell gordon that).

So, Warroad only loses to one Minnesota team (Moorhead) but beats one of the teams that beat Moorhead by the same margin as Moorhead was defeated by. The other loss was in overtime to Grand Forks Central in Grand Forks ( an excellent team by the way). A similar situation to that of Holy Angels except for the fact that Holy Angels has the second best record in the state so far. Are you Selvog's mom? I was just wondering cause you seem to adore him like only a mother could. Besides for that, I agree with most of the stuff you say slapshooter, i like reading your messages because they're mostly all on topic and accurate. Only here, I do have to agree with Shibby. Selvog's not a punk, he's a good player with great skills and who knows, maybe he should have been up for Mr. Hockey?!?! What are his grades like though? Shibby, would you mind pulling out his baby book you keep under your bed and underneath your Selvog collage you made in 4th grade, you should find his report card from the first two quarters...would you mind sharing them with us. I ask this because no one has said anything about D1 colleges for him and maybe grades play a part in that. Warroad is very good and so is Selvog. What is interesting about this thread is how SS has to compare him to Gordon. It seems like Gordon is always the one being compared to. That should tell all of us something.
