if Rapids makes it

Post by gr19 » Thu Jan 08, 2004 9:17 pm

I'll be there, otherwise I'm saving a plane ticket for the NHL playoffs. I might even go to a game 1,2 or 3,4 in Vancouver or Denver, or wherever the WILD play.

I do have a trip planed for the 7AA tournament. I'll be at round one if Rapids is a 3 or 4 seed. Otherwise I'll wait til the Semi's probably.

I will be there for sure with my good buddy from I-Falls. Looking forward to it as always but I can waite as there is too much hockey to watch with so little time. GR19 IMHO I would take state high school hockey over professional almost any day. Especially the Wild with that God awful trap. Most unimaginative hockey on the friggin planet, have fun at your 2-1 triple overtime games good buddy.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> Now Detroit Red Wings would be a whole other subject amigo.

well, the trap made it to the Western Conference finals in 3 years. Plus 16 goals in games 5-7 vs. Vancouver. Seemed like fun hockey to me. You can't argue with a coach who has his name on the cup numerous times.

gordo13, airfare from Anchorage, AK.

Gordo13 tell me the purple and gold are going to make it this year. Last year they broke my heart in the 7A finals. The tourney is best when I can watch the Broncs in person in St. Paul. If they make it I will be there. Tell them to spend some time at 8th street rink on the weekends getting there skills down so that they are ready to go at play-off time. Will you pay my air fare from Bloomington?

A field day

Post by JLS 81 » Fri Jan 09, 2004 12:01 pm

GR19...me boy you have much to learn young man, much to learn. If you like watching 2-1 triple overtime hockey knock yourself out. But do me a favor study Detroit Red Wings offensive rushes and tell me who can attack and who cannot. Friggin' dump and chase is by far the most unimaginitive hockey that ever graced an ice sheet. No wonder they have to play the music so ear splitting loud. Makes you think you are being entertained. Yup, he has got his name on the cup allright good for him. Most boring hockey on the planet and what is sad it has trickled down all the way to our beloved high school level and for that I am quite steamed. Have you looked around NHL venues lately and checked TV ratings they stink. Want to watch some real hockey get your hind end over to World Cup games next September...dump and chase how pathetic and the guy gets paid millions for that style now that is a mighty con.

Hippy is in. I'll most likely have the 3 year old in tow for a consolation game consolation game (not worth wasting a real ticket on him…yet) to start his tradition.

Oooops
I assumed the question pertained to the AA Tourney….If it were A I would most likely give him the ticket to the “Championship” game.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... ptzech>Hip Tzech at: 1/9/04 1:04 pm

dump n chase

Post by gr19 » Fri Jan 09, 2004 3:33 pm

I actually enjoy it. When the Wild get in the corners I've never seen a team cycle the puck so well, I'm awestruck watching them work the puck in deep. It's unbelievable. I appreciate their hard work. You gotta love an underdog. I've seend Detroit 3 times at the Xcel and they are fun to watch, but I hate that stupid "hockeytown" bull. Give me a break, I suppose Tampa is hockeyville.

ps-I hate Shanahan and McCarty about as much as I hate Bertuzzi and that freakin' Ruutu, Da*# he is a punk!

dump and chase verse offense with skill

Post by JLS 81 » Fri Jan 09, 2004 10:54 pm

GR19,
Good I am glad you like spending your hard earned severely over taxed dollars on the most boring hockey that ever graced a frozen block of ice. Ol' dump and chase hockey... knock yourself out on that style. Sometime we will sit and have an intelligent discussion about the vast spectrum of our hockey worlds.

severly overtaxed

Post by gr19 » Sat Jan 10, 2004 1:09 am

In Minnesota, you ain't kiddin'. One of the highest taxed states, and for what? Why? Besides hockey, what does that state have to offer?

About the trap, sure the other kinds of strategies might be more fun to watch for highly skilled teams. The Wild aren't loaded like Detroit and Colorado cuz they can't afford those kinds of players. So you use the strategy that gives your guys the best chance to score and win. I appreciate watching good defense about as much as good O. The Wild have different kinds of players on their team. Jacques said when you build a house you need a hammer, nails, lumber, etc. You can't build a house with just a bunch of hammers (Colorado and Vancouver lost).
